First order of business will be determining a subject and author for the next article on 8/1.

RobTheDuck said he might write one of shortstacking, which I think both "how to" and how to deal with them would be great. Rob, if you're willing to do it I'll schedule it for August 1st.

YouCheckRaise also offered to write something. Making a bid to be the official COTM author I think.

What subjects would folks like to see? And possibly more importantly, who's willing to commit to writing them!

How to correctly play draws in 'live' poker.

How to deal with a maniac (also identifying the type of maniac u are dealing with.)

Categorical analysis of the typical live players u see on a daily basis (and how to deal with each kind.)

I'll think of some more (might even offer to write one... eventually.)

I'd like to see a discussion about what adjustments to make in loose action games. How do you play in a 1/2 NL game when $15 to $20 raises are typically drawing 4-5 callers?

Also, what about a discussion about bluffing?

How to win at the pokerz? I could use a reminder...

Maybe a month dedicating to leveling and the mental blocks that go with that (or any mental type of references assocaited with poker... can you tell whats on my mind??)

An article on bankroll management and moving through the stakes at your local casino would be great. Considering topics such as what your goals are; taking risks; how much time you have; your level of commitment; other life factors to consider etc.

I might even be willing to write this since this is my reality right now - this summer I am grinding from 1/2 to hopefully 5/10. Currently grinding 2/5 at Fallsview.

You should only write about that part if you are 25 or younger, because then you still know all about life.

I really don't think this well suited for a COTM thread. Any real discussion of this is going to result in a wall of text type post for any one type.

It might be better to have this as a index thread pointing to multiple separate threads each addressing a player type. The index could be included in the COTM indexing thread as an additional resource for easy finding, reference.

Moving up from 1/2 to 2/5 (and to 5/10) and/or similarities and differences between the two games.

1/2 > 2/5 same game, a very few better players... just adjust your bet sizing

2/5 > 5/10 way more money, same game, better players than the lower two.. but not like ridicoulousy cant beat it type of players.

Now go, play 5/10.. OP played 5/10 and it was good.

All correct up to... If the game is uncapped... There is a huge jump between a 2/5 game and a uncapped 5/10 game.

Another way to put things... In a typical 1/2 game you look for the "good" players and have an expectation to find <=2 on any given table. In a 2/5 game you are still looking for "good" players and have a slightly higher expected number of them in any given game. In a 5/10 game you switch to looking for weak spots, in a uncapped 5/10 game you are looking for exploits and hopeful that a whale/donkey sits down.

Here's a few suggestions:
1) game selection, what to look for, when to switch tables, best style of play for the different types of tables ie different standard opening raise size, average # of players to see the flop etc
2) table image, how to appear one way while playing a different way, how to exploit your image, how to tell if they're even aware of your image and if so how they will most likely try to adapt, what is the optimal image to cultivate at low stakes
3) moving up, differences between 1-2 & 2-5 & 5-10, when to take shots

I'd definitely be interested in this topic as well.

I think there is a lot to be said for balancing when to switch tables. Ie. You sit down for a 6 hour session; you spend an hour creating a laggy image for yourself in an ok game, but then see a great game across the room with 9 unknowns playing against each other and a seat open. Should we switch tables? I struggle with this balance all the time.

"Creating a table image" seems to be getting some love. And I think it would be a really fun topic. So who volunteers to write it for July 1?

I would not mind starting it, but I think it needs more than one point of view to be a good thread.

I think that's one of the reasons it will make a good thread: everyone will have an opinion.

Since you technically wrote the first one I'm going to give it a day or so for someone new to step up, then I will schedule you for it.

Thanks man!

OK Percula, "Creating a Table Image" is officially yours.

HammerHead, feel free to contact Percula to plan a response or second viewpoint or whatnot.

I'm in Vegas on my phone, so I'll sift through this thread and start putting together a schedule for the next few months once I get back to my computer.

Of course I still want everyone to post any ideas they have (or support for ideas already mentioned). Thanks!

Plugging Leaks Live. I say 'Live' because, unlike online, we do not have a computer that gives us numbers and HH's telling us what to do differently.

September COTM IMO.

I can start working on it (like start doing it now because it may take me a while). This is one part of my game that I just recently started to go deeper into. Partly because I didn't know what to look for. I still only have a vague idea of what to look for. It will help me (and others) if I get to research it though and share what I have found (and well hopefully I have something garsh darn good to say).
