check raise bluff... check raise bluff...

I was wondering if many players on this forum use a check-raise bluff in 1-2 NL and if so has it been very effective? Is it better to use a bluff of this nature on the flop or the turn? What would an ideal flop look like if it is used?

Thanks in advance...

Check raise semi-bluff.

Actual equity + fold equty = +EV!

This is a pretty vague subject here. I mean, Of course you can check raise bluff effectively at 1/2NL. It really depends on who you are c/ring. In general, I almost never c/r exclusively as a bluff and have at least a gut shot (or some other "outs") to fall back on. In general, Villains at 1/2 don't like to bet and then fold to a raise.

depends on your opponents obv

if i give them credit for being decent players, then yes, i will throw out a x/r bluff every now and then because they just assume im blatantly repping a set

in general, i almost never cr bluff with air otf.

You almost always get floated, even if V doesn't realize hes floating you. This means that to pull off the bluff, you are going to have to checkraise otf and lead ott.

If I am going to try to win the pot by cr-ing air (and there are times you can do so). I check/call flop and check/raise the turn. This is fairly expensive, but is almost always effective against some players, especially "thinking" ones./

This is 100% accurate... For some reason, I think anger/embarrassment of being check raised - almost all players call the check raise even when they figure they are beat.

As others have said c/r semi bluffs work well. I like to use them specially against villains that bet even when there hand is marginal like 1010 on a j high board. Be prepared to follow up on the turn if villain doesn't show strength.
