Can you win if you don't hit hands? Can you win if you don't hit hands?

I'm not sure why I waited so long to enter this circle-yerk, but everyone is right.

Also, here's a quote from Slansky:

Quote:
Every time you play a hand differently from the way you would have played it if you could see all your opponents' cards, they gain; and every time you play your hand the same way you would have played it if you could see all their cards, they lose. Conversely, every time opponents play their hands differently from the way they would have if they could see all your cards, you gain; and every time they play their hands the same way they would have played if they could see all your cards, you lose.

You win Sklansky bucks while you aren't hitting hands. You need to look at your bankroll and your total skin in the game, rather than your results over a month or two.

Over time, your total win in dollars approximates your total win in Sklansky bucks.

They are out there. What you need to understand about these players is that they simply don't enjoy playing when they play tighter than that. I.e. their monetary losses from playing too loose are lower than their loss of enjoyment from playing tighter.

In fact, these players, even though they take money out of the game, will often make the game more profitable for players of equivalent skill who play tighter.

They're not hunting for the meat; they're hunting because they enjoy the hunt.

PHIL GALFOND
"The truth is that players like OG and 3S make money in the game they are used to playing. And as long as the game stays easy and the dynamic stays similar, they’ll continue to win because they happened upon a strategy that beats that particular game. However, if players start to become more aggressive, or more passive, or tighter, or they start to check-raise more, etc. etc., OG and 3S will no longer be able to win, because they don’t have the mental tools to properly adjust. It depends. Against some nits, this is a snap fold. But some BAD nits offer sufficient implied odds and we should want this spot 24/7/365.

Totally depends. I'm a tight player. If you are calling my early raise with 89 hearts? Thank you.

It's just a lot harder.

And likely not sustainable in the long run.
But on the good side, we will never 'miss' every hand in the long run.

Winning poker is as much about winning more with good hands as it is about losing less with bad/inferior hands.
This. /Thread. Literally. It has run its course and was iffy to begin with. Now it is just a micturation competition.
