at my local casino on a Friday night around 11pm or so. The game is good, deep, and there's some good action going on.

Villain - successful business man in his 40s. Regular in the casino but this is my first time playing with him. He's probably had a beer an hour since 4pm but isn't overly drunk or anything.

He's raising a ton preflop and limping most of the other times. He calls most cbets with any pair, if he's PFR he cbets 100% of the time. Villain made his money when he sucked out on AA with JJ (put his money in bad) for a 1900 pot and again when he shoved against an obvious tight players straight with top 2 only to suck out for a $3500 pot. His raising range pre is pretty much any pair, any 2 Broadway and some higher SC.

Hero - mid 20s, been talkative, had 2 rounds of beers with villain. Playing very tight, so far the only hands I've shown down was QKs when I got it in OTF with top pair and a gutshot and a flush draw. Also have shown down QQ twice and AA once. Aside from these I recently showed 10J high on a 5c9sKs8c3c board when I called villain preflop, OTF and OTT. Villain check folded river this is the only bluff I've shown but is the most recent.

Hero has $2000, villain covers.

PREFLOP:
4 limpers including villain in MP to hero in the bb. Hero raises red QQ to $35, villain calls and a short stack in LP calls.

FLOP ($115)
7s8s3x - hero leads for $70, villain raises to $150, Fonda to hero and hero calls.

Turn: ($415) 4x - hero checks, villain bets $175. Hero calls.

River ($765) 3x - hero?

I like a check/call maybe even check/fold better. Leading river is super strong to me and probably folds out 78/JJ- imo. His line looks weird for draws, but with board context he has to have at least a few in his range that he has to bluff.

I think bets have an awful tendency to induce bluffs here if we're not good.

I lean more towards check/call, possibly check/fold If you think he was way ahead on the flop. Turn sizing looks like some type of combo draw, but I might weigh him more towards a set or 78 depending on history.

I think leading here folds out everything we beat and we can't really call a raise. If he checks it back, we probably weren't going to make more money anyway.

not a massive fan of this hand, being deep makes it trickier too. villain looks like the sort of guy you might x/r the flop cos he sounds a bit wild. i'm going much bigger than $70 if i lead out too. with 7s8s out there and a villain who plays that sort of range why not pump the flop? by the time we're x/c on the turn and it's another straight card i'm feeling horrible, river is harder decision due to earlier play in the hand imo. what stakes btw?

2/5 - sorry. I posted this shortly after. I should also add villain was on the verge of tilty because his 4k stack was dwindling. Also, he played his value hands (2pair+) by making my larger raises/bets. Oftentimes over betting or shoving.

Great river card. Check call though. FD and T9 missed and give 87 a chance to bluff at it.

I assume he's raising 77 and 88 pre generally, so we only logically lose to 33 and 56s.

OOP against this type of villain, I like passive lines. These idiots think they can pound you out if the pot. You need to just continue your story on the river and "bluff catch". I used quotes bc said villain may also value bet worse like a counterfeited 87. He will definitely bet busted spades ("it's the only way I can win the hand"). This deep he may be the type to bluff raise river too which would be puke inducing.

Villain's turn bet is puke inducing. Do you have a read on the small sizing? You say earlier that he's pushing harder with his 2p+ hands. Is it possible he's changed gears and has decided to lead you along softly with a set or 65?

I have to say my first gut reaction was to x/shove the river for value.

But after taking a few minutes, I think we should just x/c. It will be too bad if he checks the river back with a busted draw, but meh... that's how it goes sometimes.

ETA: as matzah_ball said, we expect Villain to raise preflop with 88 and 77... so I think we're in pretty good shape here.
