£1/£1

LJ seems to be a very competent young player
SB a very good player; seems he was a reg at the casino but said he's not played for a few months
Hero I'm fairly new to this casino and we're in the first hour of the session, I've not been out of line or overly active.

Stacks
SB £78 effective
LJ £150ish
HERO £220ish

Hero A K open £6 mp

Low jack raise £16

SB (tanks for approx 60 secs) cold 4 bet all in for £78

Hero fold

LJ folds

What should our calling range be here? I figure at 1/1 the cold 4 bet jam is ultra strong - like QQ+ and AK suited. Plus we have the LJ behind us; I don't want to call £78 and get rejammed on by him - so is this a shove/fold spot? Would AK suited be a suitable call/shove candidate here?

Spoiler:
LJ later says he had pocket 9s

SB says he had pocket 10s but his awkward stack size to call the £16 put him in a shove/fold situation.

My guess is that you should gii in theory but in practice you should fold

This is just word salad.

Theory dictates practice. Range him, estimate your equity vs said range, figure the pot odds and decide.

Lj being uncapped complicates things but quickly figuring ev vs sb is step 1.

Op do you have a +ev call vs sb range?

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think versus the sb only I call; but when he is doing this after my open and LJ raise, I narrowed SB range to JJ+ AKo/s + AQs (but rarely) hence the fold. This was clearly too narrow.

Something about the speed at which LJ raised made me think he wasn't super nutted here; I thought he could have 99-QQ or AK/AQ here, which, if he has either of the latter are outs gone that I need vs any SB pocket pair.

TBH I don't mind my fold here, but my ranging/tell spotting of the SB is clearly way off.

Anyway, appreciate your help guys

SB can be shoving pretty wide here given his stack size, so I think we're +EV to get it in against him.

LJ is uncapped (which isn't great), so I'd be looking for any tells if I could. In a vacuum, I'm probably jamming though - we block AA/KK and he'll sometimes fold QQ given this action.
