Can I ever be good here? Can I ever be good here?

Game: 5-10NL
Villian: Never played with him before. He straddles every time he can (Only allowed UTG). He won a pot early where he straddled, and flopped, two pair and got 3 streets.

Hero: I been pretty solid all session long. Going up and down, but showing decent hands and staying in line

On to the hand

Villian: 1k Hero covers

Blinds 5-10-25 straddle. Folds to Hero in the CO, and I raise to 60 with k9 red cards

everyone folds but the villain in the straddle

K26ss

I bet 85, he calls

turn k26qsscc

I bet 150, and he shoves for the 150+700 more.

Can I ever be good??? I can beat spade and straight draws. Is calling burning money?

Sizing is very poor. You have to play this as a 40bb hand. Without the straddle would you really be making it 24 pre, 34 otf, 60 ott?

I don't mind the deep open if they're all playing straddled pots incorrectly, but AP, once you flop top pair, you're basically nutted and have to find the best line to extract value which this shallow may include stacking off as you likely did here.

Call the shove.

Your sizing is way too small.

Preflop: Raise to $75
Flop: Pot ($150)
Turn: Pot ($450)

Whatever is left after you pot it on the turn, you just call it off (or shove all rivers).

The way you profile players seems quite strange to me. The only thing I read from your description of the villain is that he straddles, and that means very little (lots of players straddle).

Don't like the open from CO with k9off one bit especially with the straddle on.
As played I doubt we are good here often, but there are enough draws out there I surpose to make it a call. I don't like it much would be much happier with kj in this spot.

Folding as played, and agree to fold pre.. turn-sizing is a bit awkward relative to the flop but otherwise ok

No, you can not call his shove. You are almost never good here. If you are it's that 1% of the time Villian is on a complete bluff. This seems like two pair or a set. What possible hands are Villian representing? He may even put you on AA, and yet he still shoves. Is Villian shoving to get you off of AK, maybe. But, I'm pretty sure this is for value.
