I only play live full ring and super nit .This works great when hand plays itself (AA,KK,sets) but the last two sessions I have gotten AK,AQ more than a few times bet $20 (3/5 5-500 spread limit) and missed flop and fold to most any bet - none of my cards come and I think I made good fold but It "feels" weak.I think just jamming and splashing with theses hands is bad or worse . I am talking like BB calls MP calls 3/4 handed J,7,2 board -one of them leads out for $35-$55 and I fold on BTN (no pair,no draw to speak of). I have tried the C bet when they check ($25-$30) but get called by small pair hands that get some kind of "soul read" on me and hang on.I am newish(3 months) to BIG BET poker (our state only allows $500 max bet on ANYTHING) .It seems so disheartening when you wait for good hand and posistion and WHIF! By contrast limping has been WORSE ,THEN I get the GD ace and get prison raped by some LAGtard that flops btm pair, gut shot and BDFD.

AK and AQ aren't hands that you want to be playing 4-handed. If 20 isn't enough to get it down to 2 or maybe 3, then you should be raising more.

Secondly: if you raise to 20, get 3 callers, and c-bet for 30 tops, you are c-betting just over 1/3 of the pot, which is rarely if ever enough to get 3 people to fold. They aren't "soul reading" you--you just aren't betting enough to make them think they need to fold.

Personally I wouldn't c-bet air against 3 opponents, unless you already know they are more than likely folding, and you have a really strong image so far with hands that you raise preflop and then c-bet.

If someone leads out in a 4-way pot on the flop and you have total high card air, you fold. That's easy. Maybe later on when you know your opponents really well, you can call or raise if you think they are actually weak and will fold.

How many hours do you play per week? Your sample size is probably quite small.

You will miss the flop 2 out of every 3 times you raise with AK or AQ. The goal is to get the flop heads up or maybe 3-way, so that when you c-bet you can take it down a fair amount of the time. But you definitely need to bet more than 1/3 pot to take it down. 1/2 is standard, 2/3 is also fine.

These are my opinions! I'm still pretty nitty myself, and I play 1/2, not 2/5, so take my words for whatever they're worth to you.

Seems like you would really benefit from reading a lot of the memorable strategy threads in the micro stakes forums.

As corlath said, you need to be sizing your bets in relation to the pot. Depending on board texture and # of villains, cbets should range from 1/2 - 2/3 pot, on average.

It seems like you know which boards are good to cbet considering you mentioned J72r, so if you get your sizing down you should see some success.

Pretty much what has been said. Open big enough to get heads up or 3 way. I generally Bet same size on cbets as if i had a made hand (2/3 or 3/4 potish depending on board and vil ranges).

Sometimes you have to dbl barrel or float and barrel over cards.

On J72r any QKA turn is usually good for us to B/F.

I think the bet sizing is the biggest thing though. If you are c betting weak when you miss and strong when you hit it's very exploitable both when you miss and when you hit.

grunch: if you're getting 3-4 callers, you're not raising enough preflop.

If they lead into you when you totally miss then there's nothing wrong with folding unless it's something stupid small like a blocking bet, then ignore it and raise.

If they're calling one bet with weak hands, then you should study up on good cbet boards and turn cards for barreling. It's actually more profitable when they call one bet with crap but gracefully fold to a second barrel. That's sick money right there.

^^^ these guys got it right. Most low stakes require somewhat large PF raises to iso anyone. 3-4 bb just doesnt usually do it. Double barrel on turns that fit the story you are tell ing throughout the hand. Tons of fish call the flop with bottom pair and fold turn when they dont improve.
