2-5
Hero hasn't played this particular 2.5 game in two years, so is unknown to most and only in game for one hour, playing tight. Sitting on $645.

V two seats to my left is 60's businessman. Note: this is an off-strip game in well-to-do area of Vegas. Has me covered with $980.

Hero in middle position makes it $15 with 2h2s.
V calls as do both blinds, both around $1,000

($60) Flop: 7c6h2s, so I flopped bottom set.
Hero bets $$35, V calls, SB calls, BB folds.

($130) Turn: 8h, so now there are three to a straight and 2 hearts on the board. Hero bets $75, V raises to $375, SB folds.

Pot is now $505, with $300 to call and I have only $525 left.

V could have a made straight, three larger sets, two pair or some combo draw/pair. My key thought though was why did he over-raise $375 into a $205 pot?

What is your play on the Turn? All-in, Call or Fold?

I’m all in. Even if we’re behind a straight we have boat outs, and this size could easily be a pair+draw or some kind of combo noise. And we are pretty high up in our distribution

I don’t really feel too good about this, but I’m probably jamming too.

AP due to the large overbet I felt he didn't want me to call and that he likely had two pair or a pair/draw. I called the turn and c/c the river and he showed 86 for two pair.

Can anyone see a larger set or straight making this large overbet?

Maybe we see a larger set or straight some of the time but it doesn't mean we should be folding.

I have seen people bomb their sets/straights when a flush draw is on board because they don't want to get a bad beat. this is player dependent though.

More often than not these players are thinking I have 2 pair and I don't want him to catch up. Their is already enough money in the pot for me so I will take it down now.

Funny, I was at the table for this one. When you continue on the turn I can guarantee V thinks your range is like 90% overpairs so he’s raising all 2p for value and can have some turned combo draws since the turn added a FD which makes this a fist pump jam.

I think you made a mistake just calling the turn instead of shoving since he could have checked back his 2p on river when the board ran four to a straight. When he jams river anyway he probably just thinks you have AA/KK and he’s still ahead.

I think his overbet somewhat defined his range as hands he didn't want me to call with. A more standard raise with 2 Pair to $200-$225 on this coordinated board would get many overpairs to fold and price out many draws that I may have had. AP, most hands that would call would likely have him beat. This would leave him a reasonable river bet with a brick river.

I prefer consistent bet sizing pre-flop (same size raise irrespective or hand), post-flop (60-75%) of pot and raises around 3x current bet. The less info V has the better.

Sick spot but 120bb deep w/ double FD I'm going with it. GG if he has a set/straight.

Pre is a fold, 22 is trash from MP. Bare minimum you should be opening it from is HJ, even then it's at best probably BE to open 22 from HJ.

he wasnt overbetting as some kind of bluff, it was just value, and yes he'd do it with a straight/set too. I mean honestly 2 pair is like the nuts on this board given the action so he shouldnt really feel too vulnerable.

x2

He thought you had an overpair, he wanted you to call or shove.

I'm all in - this bet doesnt want a call, and there are a lot of bad river cards.
