So many player types would dramatically under-value bet the river, so I would do crap like call random bricked A hi FDs on the river when 4 to a straight came in because they would literally only bet if they had nothing or if they barreled turn with a gut shot and got there.

So not only is it important to value bet in order to make more money with the best hand, but it’s Important to value bet or else your bluffs become pure spew against an observant opponent.

I've played against that type...but betting a FH on a dry board is not even a decision unless you're playing against a slow-playing rock. The only players who check back in this situation are players who will only bet the nuts.

But I play socially with the same group of 20-30 people so you get to know their tendencies really well.

We must be careful though, because there are people that will literally never bluff on the river.

You’re both right. This isn’t lockdown solid. Some people just almost never bet the river. And they’ll only do it with the nuts
