1/3 live. V is a late 50’s early 60’s white guy. Looks kind of degeny.

Hero is early-mid 20’s looking white guy.

This is my second hand at the table. Here is the first hand

H1 two limps including V, CO old guy $12, hero flats OTB ATcc. Flop 773 two clubs. v donks for $20, call, H $75 all fold.

Very next hand:

Two limps, hero $18 otb with black QQ omc Bb calls and V limp calls.

Flop Th6d2htwo hearts.

Pot:50

V donks $40 H calls.

Turn7c.

Pot: $130

V shoves $325

He’s acting kind of erratically, drinking water looking around etc. I tell him a T is no good and he aggressively drinks his water and looks away.

I'd call. He may have considered your raise in the previous hand an aggressive move to bluff him and he figures he's going to show you who's swinging the biggest. The looking away is a classic Caro tell, but lot's of players do reverse tells these days.

Not enough history for me to believe my read has reliability but i view the water drinking as self rewarding behavior, indicative of strength. With only $68 invested, no live redraws and a 2.5x pot bet, i fold.

I've seen that a lot of donk leads are top pair hands that don't want to play later streets. I'd call here.

I call. Because I haz over pair.

Plus curiosity killed the cat. And I am more than curious what he does this with.

But call for chip runner before we call. Always need a plan B

What are your thoughts on Flop donk followed by Turn donk (we still have overpair to the board)?

Call. Often a combo draw that doesn't care what happens. Hopefully not 76hh

I'd meh call, i expect to see 98 here sometimes and be drawing dead.

In my game, villains will continue with top pair if no draws get there on the turn. If draws complete or their kicker is weak, they tend to slow down.

I make the crying call as it does not seem like this bet wants a call.

It's these tweaky degens that do this kind of stuff with sets. This guy has the rando factor. Not enough combo draws on the flop. Close spot so I don't care too much either way I guess fold.

I hate giving these away bc it’s taken me years of observation and they’re like children to me...but taking a drink is a reliable sign of weakness.

You owe me a burger when I get down there.

I've caught myself doing this and consciously make sure I don't.

Interesting/in my years of observation it's the opposite. Maybe we're both right tho-our games might be different.......

If we knew each other and were involved in a huge pot against each other what would it mean if we both took a drink simultaneously? ha

I think a lean back and swig of a drink means strength, not weakness.

did he confidently take a big drink?
or did he timidly sneak a sip?

I could best describe it as having a brief seizure while drinking.

No, just difference of opinion on its interpretation. I dont put any stock in the belief that his action relates at all to losing 32 bucks in the prior hand.

Not in my experience

My vote is for folding, dont think calling is break-even against most villains here, even with the heart draw semibluffs

the big overbet from a nit = set 100% of the time

from your V?

I would have to be there to get a good read

most likely go the lower var route and fold

FWIW my drink tell is strength and I stopped doing it.

The mini-seizure while drinking (or otherwise) looks like an adrenalin surge to me and I probably fold. Absent this ‘read’ I fold anyway for a full stack shove.

I’m calling ~$200 in a vacuum because flop donks tend to be weak in my game, they tend to slow down OTT with money behind but are more likely to jam if they feel committed.

how were you able to get dealt in on the button your very first hand, and then keep the button for your 2nd hand?
