~1100 stacks

-1 limp
-HJ makes it 20
-CO calls
-Hero calls in SB with J9
-Limper calls

4 ways to the Flop(85): J95
-Checks to HJ who bets 65
-CO calls
-Hero makes it 185
-Only HJ calls

Turn(520): 7
-Hero bets 210 and Villain calls

River(940): K
-Hero checks
-Villain jams all in
-Hero? (We have ~700)

What do you guys think about my line up to the river and whats your thought process on the river?

Cheers

3 bet pre to $80. If you don't want to 3 bet, just fold pre.

On the flop I'm actually fine with just x-c purely because the board is pretty dry. I would go at least $250 if you're going to raise.

As played, on the turn go $260.

I don't like a river check... There's literally zero credible draws that miss and the only reason to check would be to induce. I wouldn't go overly large because it's not the best river card to get value. I'd go $400 on this river. As played, snap call. We block JJ and 99, so what, we lose to 55, KJ, and QT some portion of the time? QT isn't very likely as it'd likely fold turn.

3bet or fold pre

We bet less than half pot on turn so I don’t see why QT would fold. We also lose to T8 and KK. Knowing nothing about villain it’s a fold.

The K isn't a great card for you. KJ, KK, and QT all got there to beat you....and are all reasonable hands for V to hold. He could have a slow played set of 5s. You're getting about 2.3 to 1 pot odds. Hard to see your 2 pair being good here, unless V is bluffing or is overvaluing AA. Highly doubt V is bluffing given your line. He either had you the whole way or rivered you. I would fold.

I would lead the flop. Checkraising looks really strong here. It's a fairly dry board. I would bet a lot more on the turn. T8 got there and 77 is very unlikely..... you're ahead of most of his range. Bet $300-325.

We need serious reads on V. Vs. the average player, I fold pre. And as played, I fold river.

For flatting pre, your line is OK, but I go bigger on flop and bigger on the turn.

I ended up folding the river. He doesn't have any bluffs here and everything gets there by the river. 10 8, Q10, KJ, KK..

I agree, I should 3bet or fold this pre. I feel like a lot of the hands I've had trouble with lately have just been caused by me playing passively pre flop, especially OOP, rather than taking the initiative and uncapping my range by 3betting. It's not a BR issue so I think it's psychological, where I think I'm taking a lower variance route when really that's not the case. I don't know if anyone can relate to that.

Anyways, I know raising is almost always better than flatting in these spots, so I guess I just have to start doing it and not let myself get complacent.

GL guys!
