I think I really screwed up here.

1/2 NL MAX 200 buy in. hero has $175 in front. (A little short, but I don't usually top up until I lose 20%.)

Usual 1-2 table. lots of loose players as always.

hero has the dealer button.

There are 4 limpers in front of Hero, hero raises it to $17, with Kd Jd.

Small blind folds
Big Blind Calls, seems like a calling station.
Mid position, fairly tight but calls
Mid position, calls.

There is now roughly 70 in the pot.

Flop comes Kh-9s-5c Rainbow.

Top pair. Decent kicker. Hero Bets $50

Big blind calls. Everyone else folds.

Turn Card Ad.

Small blind checks. hero Checks.

River is a Jack of spades, giving hero 2 pair.

Big Blind bets $60.

Your move?

I prefer a Jam, I think villain discount an A from you and has a weak one. Deeper would probably raise to like 220-230, but with less than a psb here I'm okay with jamming.

I think calling is losing value, but I think folding is lighting it on fire.

So you've got about $100 left on the river? Looks like a fairly straightforward jam. Calling not awful but you're leaving money on the table more often than you're value owning yourself here. Folding would be lolbad.

Your sizing is pretty big OTF.

Call seems clear at the price on the river. Not thrilled about it, not expecting to be winning very often. Jam is suicidal - villain cannot have one pair aces in view of the flop action.

What are you expecting calls from that you beat?

Villain can't have one pair aces after the flop check/call. He has one of three hand types:

1) Some sort of weird bluff.

2) A blocking bet with like KT that he's going to fold if you jam

3) Some legit value hand like aces up or a set. He is sizing down because to him, it looks like we have very little.

In none of these cases does raising the river help.

Is there anything with SDV he's folding for $50 more into a ~$400 pot? Most villains I've seen sigh-call it off with any pair.

Well I think he's a pretty big dog to have the blocking bet type of hand. Like I said, I expect to mostly lose here, because this sizing doesn't look like a bluff, any legitimate value bet has to be at least top pair, and villain can't have just top pair only. I therefore expect to see aces up or better a lot.

To jam here, you're not saying merely that it's possible that villain has one of these blocking bet KT type hands, you're saying he has that - and calls with it - MORE OFTEN than he has a legit value hand like A9, 99, 55, etc.

We checked the turn why?

Cause A is gonna hit our range hard and the pot is large and now look what happens on the river.

I’m jamming river here. If he flopped a set god bless him for checking the turn.

Like others have said he probably sigh calls $48 with most hands that we beat.

I called.

Villain had A-5 offsuit.

Thought his $50 call was crazy. But maybe not. Don’t know how he can’t put me on possibly having Ace King there.

Because if we bet we're mostly losing when called? It's just not worth the cost to bet for protection.

Also, confused about this:

In combination with this:

If you're jamming the river then him leading river should be welcome news, surely.

The call is atrocious, obviously, but people do that stuff.
