Have played with V a lot before. Limps constantly and donk leads quite often. Can seem to be tricky and check big hands from time to time. Plays so much trash through.

V has $200.
Hero has $380.

V limps from MP.
CO limps.

Hero raises on the BTN with 86 to $8.

SB folds.
BB calls.
V calls.
CO calls.

Flop: T72 Pot: $33

BB checks.
V donks for $20.
CO folds.
Hero calls.
BB folds.

Turn: J Pot: $73

V bets for $25
Hero calls.

River: Q Pot: $123

V checks.

Hero?

Raise bigger pre, sizing is too small.

Raise flop or turn for a better line to jam river, but looks like you're getting stationed pretty often in this game so I'd take a lower variance strategy and just give up river.

raise to $12 minimum, but I prefer $15 after 2 limpers. You can also limp this on the button, though some will tell you never to do this. I think it is fine here.

Raising to $8 is probably the worst possible option. Nobody limps then folds for $8 in Live 1/2. You are just bloating the pot with a marginal hand. You have position, but you have a severe range disadvantage and you aren't deep enough to overcome that with position and/or skill.

As played, I probably raise the flop against this villain. You said he donks a lot. This seems like a good spot to apply maximum pressure against a guy who shouldn't be particularly strong, and with a bunch of hand equity in the event that he gets sticky. I would raise to $60 with the intent to shove most turn cards. (Maybe not a T or 7)

Turn: Calling is fine but I might just shove the turn too. His weak turn sizing is not indicative of a lot of strength. We should have a fair bit of FE, plus we still have 12 outs if he calls.

River: I just check back now. Tough to tell a convincing story after calling flop and turn. A shove is going to look like a missed draw to a sticky, non-thinking villain. Against a thinking villain I wouldn't mind a bet on the river here, as a lot of your flush draws have backed into a decent hand (AKd, QJd, K9d, AQd, KQd, 89d) that you could conceivably be value betting on the river.

You say 'another' so I'm guessing this is after the first one .. How did he loss so much of his stack? Down from $800?

Yes, I think with this V's tendency to call things down that I would raise more with the hopes of taking him to value-town when IP. On the flip side he's shown no ability to 'see' the board in an effort to take him off a hand. Probably futile to bet this River after he's been running you over for the session. He will take a loss before folding IMO. GL

You are reading the wrong threads. That was a different V.

Raising the flop is easily the best play. Good chance he folds immediately. If he calls you have lots of outs and you'll have frozen him up so he'll almost always check the turn to you. Then you can decide to shove turn or take the free card. With a sticky player like this I'd be inclined to take the free card on the turn as the J isn't an excellent scare card and will frequently have given him some more equity

Turn improves V's 98 JT J9 J8 T8 97dd JXdd KQdd K9dd Q9dd

As played I'd check the river.
