Hi, I usually play online I am a winning player at 5nl. I have started playing live poker lately. I notice that there are a lot of differences between online and live poker. Generally, at live poker the players are very loose. So i have some questions.

Is it ok to limp? (i almost never limp at online poker)

Any suggestion about the sizing on opening. (i open 3bb from ep and 2 - 2.5 from late position at online poker)

What about the 3bet sizing?

Thank you in advance

Hello.
I would not recommend to limp as it will be difficult to play post flop as you cannot put Villians on any range. So basically when you play limp you play a game fit or fold which is a losing strategy.
Opening sizes pre flop usually are between 3.5bb to 6bb.
If you are playing tight agressive style i recommend you to open 4bbs and 3bet pot size. Eg. UTG opens 8 Co calls Hero BU 3bet pot size - 35. I am talking here about 1/2 and 100bb effective stacks.

I play 1/2 & 1/3NL primarily & I never open limp. Not ever. The 1/3NL game has a $500 max buy-in, I keep my stack at $500, so limping is foolish. Limping in 1/2NL just invites those in LP to squeeze cheaply after 3 callers.

Do ever call a limp?

I also notice that the regulars play very deep. Generally with 500 euros at 1/2 games. Is there a specific strategy for playing so deep?

Can you suggest me any good video about live poker.

Thank you in advance

Open limping can be OK in specific situations but generally you should raise or fold. Limping behind is more common, low stakes live villains will often lose a lot of money with one pair so you can limp behind with speculative hands. Another reason why is because raise sizes are so different then online. Live raising is usually more like 5BB + 1BB per limper but varies widely depending on table conditions. Raises out of the blinds are often ridiculous sizes like 10BB but will still get called because people think you are squeezing.

3 bets are usually around 3 times the first raise. A bit less if the first raise was big and there isn't anybody else in the pot, a bit more if villain is sticky or there is a lot of money in the pot already.

As for playing deep, it does change things a lot. Play becomes more about good post flop play then about preflop moves. Adjusting to the situation and the specific opponent then having a well balanced mechanical range.
