Hero $210. Havent show down any hands, have played a few. Raised villain off a hand earlier but didn't show.

Main covers. villain is 30ish Asian. Seems like a decent player but only 1.5 hours of history. Plays standardish tag from what I can tell. Probably not super aggressive from what I've seen.

3 limps, villain limps the CO and I check with Kc2c in the bb.

Hero leads for 8, call, villain raises to 25. I opt to just call. Other villain calls. I think if I raise I blow him off top pair, maybe off some draws, I expect him to continue to bluff with a draw if he misses and no point in owning myself against a set.

River: offsuit 9.

Hero??? Hero leads for 50, fold, villain raises to 150, hero has like $30 left and just calls.

Thoughts? I'm mostly betting to get value from top trips mediocre or bad kicker that was a little worried.

However, checking river has some merit. If he has a hand that he will call with, he will probably bet it himself. He doesn't have a lot of marginal made hands where he's just going to check it back but would have called a bet.

By checking I let him bet with his missed diamonds and his weak trip kings. To get max value against trip kings check raising will probably be better. If he has QJ check raising would also be better than leading.

I could also consider just check calling since KT is a very possible holding with the turn check. Alarm bells sort of went off when he just checked turn.

If he's got kt pay him his money - still ahead of 22. it's a finely played hand, probably jam river though seeing as jq got there.

Also 3betting flop would be pretty horrendous

The more I think about it the more I'm convinced checking is correct. I just don't think he has a lot of check backs that would have called if I bet.

Villain showed up with KT for the bigger boat. At least I picked up on the turn check weighting his range more toward KT even if I don't like my river line. Also saved $30 lol.

FWIW, the villain is not even close to a standard TAG based on this hand. KT is a fine raising hand in the CO in a limped pot.

Rich Checkmaker is right on the flop. Top and bottom pair aren't for slow playing. Just get your money in with about 50 BB in your starting stack.

That's just a cooler. There's no way you can just put him on KT there. With the boat, you have to get it in.

Why check turn?

Any K is likely calling, and by checking you let them draw to their kicker or a T for free, as slim as it may be.

IMO more hands you beat can continue to put money in on the turn than the river.

Are missed diamonds going to bluff the river on a paired board where your range after calling the flop raise is K or boat heavy?

V raised flop and checked after turning the effective nuts? What a donkey..

But it is hard to put V on a hand besides K10 that plays this way, maybe the one combo of 22 or some flush draws that decided to check back turn and spew river? Really awkward hand if it was me I'm probably shoving that extra $30
