Think about it. What ever the board was last hand and the cards that showed up on the river...are all going to be clumped together.
out of those 9 to 11 cards, say you saw 4 kings. Guess what likely to come up on the turn or river if a K on the board and you did not shuffle well.
Just a thought....
Years ago, over on the blackjack forums, there was interest in tracking face-card-rich blocks through a shuffle. There was one study however that showed that shuffling doesn't affect outcomes. That's right; in blackjack, you might as well not shuffle at all.
The theory is that, in blackjack, you only muck a small percentage of cards at one time, and then lay that block into a tray. The problem with that theory is that you're supposed to deal out the whole deck; in that case, the act of dealing the cards shuffles the deck. (Of course, casino's never deal out the whole deck; that's how they cheat).
In a full ring poker game, you muck half the deck. Mucking of course shuffles the cards. If you never shuffled, or if at most you just cut the deck once, you would be able to track an enriched deck. I guess I could use this in a blackjack game (assuming the penetration % is 50 or less) but am less sure how this would be used in poker. Plus, any degree of shuffling would destroy that block.
In a short-handed poker game, I could see how it might be possible to track a block of cards through a careless shuffle. However, the degree of concentration required would no doubt interfere with my drinking.
