1am, local cardroom $1-2, 6 handed. Game has slowed after a couple action players left, lots of limped pots, or raises taking it down pre.

V1- Table mark, fairly aggro-tarded. Raises often pre, limps the rest of the time. Likes to take control of hands with any piece of board, frequent donk bets and min raises. Also seen him fold several rivers vs triple barrels. Straddles utg and btn every time. ~$200

V2- Huge nit, raises only premiums, limps most pp's up to QQ, very OMC/MUBsy. ~$100

Hero- TAGish image, although not sure V1 would notice. Haven't show down any bluffs in 3 hours with villains. Hero covers.

V1 btn straddles to $4, folds to V2, who calls in sb, hero calls in bb with 87o, V1 checks his option.

Flop ($12) As9s8h

V2 checks, hero bets $10, V1 calls, V2 folds. I put V1's range here as 9x, 8x, small pp's and draws. I expect min raises here from every A, and most 9s.

Turn ($32) 9c

Hero bets $20, V calls. Now I range V to almost exclusively draws and 8x, as he raises trips almost 100%.

River ($72) 2h

Hero bets $35, hoping to push out 8x and not expecting busted draws to bluff much...

Does V1 pop his straddles up pre often?

The action is all out of whack.

I think I fyp, till the flop, where apparently V1 and V2 switch places.

Min raises probably 1/3 of the time.

Where does the action start pre flop in your game? UTG or SB? (When there is a btn straddle of course?)

If its UTG then pre seems fine. If its SB then I don't think you want to be completing in the BB with 87o with the whole table still to act.

Post flop:
Hand seems fine. I might actually bet the river a touch bigger though. More like $45 or so. He's chopping with 8x obviously and we want to discourage him from sigh calling for a smaller bet.

what are you trying to fold out on the river that you aren't already beating? 8x? Seems really thin.

It's not how I've ever seen a BTN straddle work

Thats how they do it, the Diamond Jo straddle they call it. Action starts utg, ep-co players act in turn, action skips btn to sb/bb, and btn acts last. Unless someone raises, then btn acts in usual order.

It works great in loose passive games, cause when ur btn u act last every street.
