6 handed 2/5 game with a $10 button straddle. Folds to me in cutoff with $450 in stack, all others have me covered. I raise to $30 with ATs. Straddle folds, SB makes it $90. Folds back to me.

My image from about an hour of play is probably somewhat tight/passive. Villain has been fairly straight forward. He did 3 bet from SB once before, and showed 99.

My hand feels like it is not quite good enough to call, but too good to fold. The problem is a 4 bet bluff would be an awkward size; raising to even $200 leaves me pot committed, and jamming to $450 seems crazy. I settled for a call, which wasn't exactly great either.

Should I be sizing my raise smaller for this exact situation? Should I 4 bet jam as a bluff?

I would fold. Most players are 3betting less than we think they are. The straddle makes your stack only 45bb. Like you said any raise leaves you close to being committed.

I don't think our hand is too good to fold to a SB 3b range.

yeah I agree that hand does look pretty, almost like a christmas tree. take a picture of it before u toss it away.

you don't have enough money to 4bet/bluff. you have 90 big blinds.

being good at poker means being good at folding, not calling. Everyone's good a calling, that's why the games will always be good.

Agreed with others, this is a fold. I'd probably fold AQ here.

When in doubt, fold.

That said, I'd be tempted to call after somebody shows me they can 3 bet with 99 pf.

From the SB, 6 handed and short stacked?

Is this a level?

I was expecting to see a different hand mentioned. I'd fold. A lot of hands he 3-bets have you crushed and even 99 often beats you.

Did he show that hand after the river, or did everyone fold to his PF raise? Some players will make a move, show the bluff after everyone folds to advertise, and think they are being clever hoping that in future situations, you will remember the bluff and pay them off when they have it.

After the river. 3 betting 99 short handed over a steal raise isn't exactly bluffing

A straightforward villain might show it thinking it's a big move because he didn't do it with AA/KK. I've been in spots where I thought someone was 3-betting me with a wider range because I raised in late position, but they had a big hand and eventually I realized they were just nits.
