1/3. Villain is an out of towner but has the look of a grinder. Mid to late twenties, white guy with baseball cap and headphones. Played about two hours with him and don't have a great read on him. Doesn't seem to be too aggressive, has shown ability to bet/fold but not sure if for value or as a bluff.

Hero: AcQh in MP with one limper makes it $15, button calls, all else fold. Effective stacks of $400.

Flop ($37)
Qd10d6s

Hero bets $35, villain tanks, cuts out a raise, thinks and just flats.

Turn ($107)
Qd10d6s 9h

Hero bets $65, villain goes into small tank again and calls.

River ($237)
Qd10d6s 9h 8s

Hero has $285 here. What's the move? Blocker bet? Check to induce? Check/fold?

I think his range is pretty wide here. I think he would have raised KJ on the turn, but other than that he has a lot of flush draws and one pair/two pair hands here, including a good number of jacks (AJ, QJ, J10). Lots of his flush draws got there in some way (2 pair or straight) but it isn't clear if he would try to get value from a 2 pair hand.

Check for sure and fold without further reads.

Flush didn't get there but most other hands that call flop now beat you and a lot of the flush draws hit straights anyways. You have to check here, the boards too strong and you stack is too small. Block bets won't work because of that and any bigger bet commits you to the pot. Probably fold to any bet.

I'm cool with preflop, although it is unfortunate we ended up OOP.

SPR is 10ish. I think we can take two routes. If we're comfortable bet/folding against this guy, we could bet/fold 1/2 PSB on 3 straight streets (or perhaps on first two streets and then setup a bluff catcher on the river if the draws bust); the problem with this line is that we'll have to fold to a raise (a raise puts us in position where we are playing for stacks which we don't want to do), but it's possible we might not feel comfortable folding to a raise. If we don't feel comfortable folding to a raise, it might be better to check the flop and hope it checks thru, or else keep his range much wider by check/calling; the problem with this line is that he could make us play for stacks by 3barrelling big (but that is uncommon). I'd probably prefer the latter method against someone I'd be uncomfortable bet/folding to.

Wow, that's a really big bet on the flop (a PSB). Do we want to play for stacks? Cuz we'll definitely be playing for stacks by betting this big on early streets. I don't like the sizing.

Turn one draw did get there (KJ). The problem with betting this big on flop and then continuing with a turn bet is that we are building a huge pot OOP with just one pair.

Another draw came in on the river (J9 and any Jx pairs). Also a lotta two pairs on this board. The main flush draw busted though. I'd hate betting here. The busted flush draw isn't going to call or might just shove in as a bluff (but can we call?). Most mediocre hands won't turn their hand into a bluff and will instead check behind and just hope they are good. Any bet is a actually turning our hand into a bluff (repping a J and hoping we get two pair to fold); very few worse hands will pay off on this board unless Villain is simply putting us on AK and calling down light. I'd check/fold the river.

Playing pots OOP non-shallow is difficult, especially against players we don't have a handle on. We might want to consider a seat change depending on how all the other stacks/opponents shape up / exactly how close to the right of Villain we are.
