Played a hand today and I would really like some feedback.

.5/1 Hold Em

Hero: $230. Things are not going my way today so my image is pretty bad to anyone paying attention. I’m down about $70. Nothing crazy has happened, just a lot of pre flop raising and post flop folding. On the other hand, I’ve been playing with the same small group of players for the past two weeks and absolutely crushing. Most players at the table would be aware. Usually pretty loose and very aggressive but not today as I’ve been card dead.

One thing to note: I can’t emphasize how soft this game is. Almost everyone is awful. I can’t believe it is real. I’m in the process of buying a house and moving but I play as much as I can because it’s free money and I can’t believe it will last.

V1: Covers. Plays way too many hands pre flop and is nothing special post flop. Usually has something reasonable if the pot is huge though. He definitely has got the best of me. I have value bet for him several times. Notably passive post flop.

V2: $150. Just a standard player in this game. This means he’s terrible.

The hand:

V1 limps, hero has A Q and raise to $5. A few folds and V2 calls. Both blinds and V1 call.

Flop ($25):

K 10 6

Checks to hero who also checks. V2 checks. I elected not to value bet here since it was five way and I definitely expect a call on this board. All sorts of marginal hands would call from these players and would technically be right to do so in this situation. I feel good about this choice but I’m open to ideas.

Turn: A

Checks to hero who bets $20, for basically the same reasons I didn’t continuation bet. I also think, given the action, I’m likely good here. V2 and V1 both call. Pot is $85.

River: 4

V1 checks. Hero?

Pretty standard bet of $35-$45 here.
I normally err on the small side multi way.

I think given the players here I’m okay with going pretty big on turn as you did, and then going small on the river. Works well for value and the rare times you have like Q9s and are just firing off with a gutter.

Thanks for the replies. I did bet $40 on the river, villain called and I lost to his K6. I really thought value betting was right there but I wanted a sanity check.

I mean the preflop of his is terrible, and on the flop he’s taking what is certainly the best hand and not charging his opponents when a lot of the deck is bad for him on the turn. You want dudes playing this poorly, especially since he’ll have hands like Ax that will pay off.

100% agree. It’s funny, but I actually think he may have been adjusting to the high frequency of my continuation bets and going for a check raise on the flop, but who knows. One of the most profitable things for me in this game is frequently c betting; it is amazing to me that they still usually bet out when they make a hand.
