Hero is UTG + 1 : Will likely be perceived by the table as extremely tight due to only playing a couple of hands over the last few hours, this is due to being card dead and placed in spots where moves couldn't be made, not because hero is actually tight. Regardless, Perceived image: extremely tight.
[260BB]
UTG is loose passive : Super loose passive pre flop but hasn't been involved in too many big hands. Appears to be a 'I will see the flop' kind of player, called 8BB pre with 84 which (somehow) got to showdown, quite fishy.
[85~BBs]
BTN (main villain): 55yo WG : Splashy but with occasional bouts of aggression, doesn't seem phased by big pots. He seems quite miserable. possibly a degen or a losing reg based on first impressions, but who knows he could have just had a bad day
[Covers]
OTTH
PREFLOP: UTG Limps, Hero raises to 7bb (standard) with J
J
, BTN calls, UTG calls
FLOP (30) 6 9 4:
UTG checks, Hero leads for 20, BTN calls 20, UTG shoves for around 75-80 total
HERO?!
Arguments for jamming: We would be jamming strictly for value but the only hands which can really call appear to be flush draws which flatted the flop, and with our tight image is seems even hands like TT which just flatted pre may have a tough time calling. Jamming seems okay but there are almost no worse hands which can call, especially considering our image?
Argument for Flatting and betting most/all turns if Hero calls:
Although our range looks ultra strong if we take this line (not as strong as above though, perhaps), this allows villain to make more mistakes on the turn/river. However, there are a number of tricky turn cards (Clubs fills flush, 5, T completes straights, ect) so I feel this line makes life difficult. Of course there is always the chance we call and UTG folds, but this seems unlikely due to getting 3+/1 pot odds to call and our possible weakness through flatting and not jamming
Tough spot I think. What do people think is the best line to take here, and why? Thanks!
