I like shipping the flop.

As played, extremely obvious bet. $75 or so, easy ship on any river.

I'm guessing the caller in MP folded to hero's $15 bet?

With the nut flush, definitely bet the turn $70-$80. All in on the river.

The turn was an obvious bet, but the river gets interesting.

Hero bets 50 on turn and V calls
(should have been more but I did not want to chase away any sets or 2pr)

River (233) J679J

V leads for 100

Hero?

Bet turn bigger for sure.

Ship it now. Be sad if he has 66 or 77. I think he shows up with stupidly played Jx and lower flushes often enough.

V flops set. Hero turns flush. V rivers boat. I'm interested.

Your preflop raise and flop bets could/should have been bigger.

So Villain flopped a set of 7's and rivers a house against your NF. It happens. This has the feel of a results orientated post...that won't help you learn. Ship flop over V's stupid c/r. Same result? Yes probably...however, the decision making process is correct, meaning that the universe is sound.

No offense, but the title was misleading...where is the interesting hand?

100 is all you have left...
You started with $200 pre flop, called something pre flop, called $50 on the flop, bet $50 on the turn, and now he bets $100. So, you're AI. So, you can call or fold. So call. What the hell?

Also, the best on the turn was way too small. There's $130 in the pot already, and you're betting $50 more, so that's giving v 3.6:1 on his money. If he has a set, he's going to boat up 1 in ever 4 times, so he only needs 4:1 in direct odds + implied odds to make the call profitable. Which means that if you plan to be to or call a $20 river bet or more, then he's made the right choice in he hand.

Also, we had the stone cold nuts on the turn, and we had $150 left behind into a pot of $130, if we ever have trouble getting they money in we're doing something very wrong.

So, your hand should have been:
Ship the flop.
Nothing on the turn, nothing on the river. Profit.

Or:
Call the flop.
Bet the turn for $75-$90, ship the river or call all in on the river. Profit.

As played, super standard easy call.

Bet turn bigger to charge draws, bad river but pot odds dictate a call.

J on river would have been interesting. DUCY?

This is a pretty standard 'suck - resuck' hand I guess .. unless he showed a straight flush, then its just a cooler.

Your weak Turn bet allows him to draw for cheap and really under-reps your hand. He can make this River bet with Jx now which is good if he may have folded to your Turn shove. It's possible that you got more chips with the bottom end of his range here, but in turn you let the top end of his range draw basically for free.

Bet more on Turn, which really should be a shove since you 'only' have PSB left. Why let him draw for cheap and then not pay off the rest of your stack on River? Shove Turn IMO.

Dont worry about your title ... but it really would be a more interesting hand if you were deeper or had some other dynamic going on. Most of this was standard poker play. GL

False, we did not had the stone cold nuts on the turn. I am a bit results oriented in this with the title, my apologies for misleading. Hero calls and asks "do you have a full house?"

Villian says "nope" and flips over 58 for the straight flush...

Hero was drawing dead on the turn. I know this is just a bad beat but it stung because it was just one after another that day.

Turn bet sizing is awful. What's that old poker tell about strong being weak and weak being strong? Proper turn sizing would eliminate all questions on the river.

Because some of Villain's range as played is JX. I.e. Pair+FD.

So if OTR, the J hits, it eliminates all of those combos. Thus, now villain's range is more heavily leaning towards flopped sets (and rivered boats).

The guy won $500 for HHJP. I seriously considered folding the river but I had already invested 50% of my stack a fold wasn't happening.
