live 1-2, just bought in for $200. Folded the first 3 hands that came to me then got AhKs UTG. Since I was new to the table I knew no one and didn't have any reads. I do know that these games play pretty passive with a lot of limp calling.
I raise to $10 UTG with AKo
UTG+2 3bets to $35
MP calls $35
BB insantly says $200 with about $300 more behind however this raise puts me effectively all in. The other two people in the hand also had around $200-$300.
I tank folded as I felt I looked pretty strong with my UTG raise and with 3 people it would be hard for him to be cold 4betting light. Having no reads on the guy made me think I would be flipping at best, most likely against against JJ or QQ maybe AK or I'd be dominated by KK or AA. Also with two more people left to act I would not want to see them call if I call as well since my AK would play horrible 4 ways. Do you agree with my fold or is it just too tight?

This is a spot that I can insta muck AK. In cash games AK doesn't win huge all in pre flop pots. AK wins small to medium pots vs TPGK and loses big pots.

I think $10 is a little small of an open in most $1/2 games. But at some tables it's fine. Meh. I don't think it looks "strong" at all though.
Given a complete "no reads" situation, I just fold here and save my money. We're somewhere between flipping and smashed. Pay attention and hope someone else calls and you can see the hands at showdown.
This is a place where getting a good impression of the table might help you. Were people drinking? Rowdy? Was there a lot of banter? How deep were the stack? Were they messy? Did anyone fit a player stereotype?
I might call a drunk Asian guy, but there's no way in hell I'm calling an old woman with a coffee.

I love the fact that you didn't over value AK pre to a table full of unknowns in a 3! Bet!
IMO
good fold, well played!

Snap folding.
You'll find out soon enough if you are at a table full of idiots or not. There is no reason to dust off a buy-in to figure it out.
