Villain 1 - Mid 20's, Table changed from a table he boasted was "full or sharks" and seems antsy and slightly annoyed.

Villain 2- Mid 30's, Sat down five minutes ago, has folded 2 hands.

Hero - Relatively unknown to both players.

1-3 No-Limit

Villain 1 $300
Villain 2 $300
Hero $450

Pre-flop Action:

Villian 1 (UTG +1) Raises to 17
Villain 2 (CO) calls 17

Hero (Button) picks up AK calls 17

Is it correct to flat pre-flop or should I have played AKo on the button more aggressively?

Flop ($51):

K 10 5

Villain 1 bets 27

Villain 2 re raises to 55

Hero ?

Hi,

When you post a thread, please make sure that you do not include the results.
People will always read them, and almost always it will sway how htey respond to the questions being asked.

I would likely 3bet this hand pre flop.
We have a good hand and position.
And we should get looked up lighter vs a new guy at the table and the fact that he might be on tilt.

As played, with no reads on V2 I think that I'm going to pitch the hand. Sometimes we get shown a flush draw here, but often it's 2p or a set, and we have no reads to tell us that he's a spewbox.

so basically Villain 1 is telling you he's not that good of a player. Good information.

the default would be to 3bet to 35 (unless V1 was a known nit, where I would fold rather than 3bet, and rather than play fit or fold against him)

as played his raise is only a min-raise. It does not appear he is trying to fold people out with his flush draw, he would most likely do this with more than a min raise, and he does not look like he is trying to isolate. Rather, he is trying to build a pot and is expecting v1 to call (or come over). so I will fold (without any further information on him).

Definitely raise that pre. You're in position & will likely go HU to the flop, where you're cbetting most flops. Might as well kick back & slap a "Boss" sticker on your forehead @ that point.

This is a ****ty spot though. In my experience V1 likely has JJ, AQ, or some other hand that missed. His preflop raise didn't want action & his flop cbet looks vaginal.
V2 is doing that w/ a number of draws. Min raise there could be a Monster (Possibly KK) or just a Flush/combo draw trying to isolate.

I'd flat the flop & evaluate the turn. If anyone has the nuts to fire a big bet on the turn (or if V1 repops the flop), especially if a club hits, I'm folding. But based on this action, I'm not convinced that we're beat.

Our other option is getting it in on the flop, but we'd be risking our stack to protect a hand that we don't even know is good. V1 could be slowplaying trips, V2 could have QJc & be ready to get it in anyways

This is a great point & convinced me that folding is the best option.

iraisetoomuch, would you say calling here is actually our worst option here? That's what I would've done initially, but now it sounds leaky

I'm a little cooler with flatting than others, but I'm passive like that. If there was another caller in the mix (i.e. more dead money) or I had better reads on players (we're facing a decent sized raise from EP here) or stacks were smaller, I'd more lean to 3betting.

Until shown otherwise, I treat postflop raises with a great deal of respect as they are almost always ~nuttish hands. So I nit fold the flop.
