if you go thru the forum you will see AK is by far the most posted hand

your read of V and V's range is what determines +/- EV

but even at +EV you could lose your stack several times before realizing that Equity

making the most of and squeezing out every little bit of EV at the risk of higher Var is something each has to decide on their own.

there are far to many spots where instead of 30-40% we have 65-80% and these are the spots we need to maximize .

remember even at 40% we lose 6 out of ten times

BJ player didn't show, BB didn't show. I turned over AK and the Villain had KK. I lost.

I texted two other regs and both said call with him there. They thought he was isolating with 88s and up there. Both confirmed he'd do it with AQ. The nit next to me said, "he always has it." Not true because I know the guy. People do just go by age though with the OMC distinction. He isn't an OMC.

A decent reg is gonna call waaaaaaay wider than you guys are guessing. Easily could have any ace here, for example.

Chicago,

Did you also tell the regs that he raised? He didnít RAISE or ISOLATE. He just called a blind all-in from a shortish stack.

Re: AK vs. Blind All In+Min-Raise

Why is this even a thread? No math, no ranging, no thinking. Just all-in.

Since we're here in this three page thread, though, unless villain is a scared-money nit-reg who values hands in terms of absolute number of dollars (AQ is not a $150 hand hurr durr), it's laughable to range villain as tight as some in this thread. Granted, he is probably not adjusting enough to correctly have hands like K9s, but still, it's not so close that you have to think about villain's range beyond "villain is/isn't a ridiculous 1|3 nit."

UTG goes all in blind for the third time in a row...at $140 or so... Villain raises to $290.

Have you read the thread? Villain raised $10, which is effectively just a call. Unless you think he was unaware of the stack sizes behind him. There is no noticeable strategic difference between flatting and raising for villain.

Re: AK vs. Blind All In+Min-Raise

^^^ Took me 3 reads to follow the action. OP is very poorly written.

Blackjack Player (BJP) - blind raises to 140

V - next to act probably eyed hero's stack and thought it was more. Which as it turns out was only 10 more. Even if V knew it was only 10, he can't make it 150, since he didn't know he just shoved which happens to be a min- raise but this fact is irrelevant.

H - only has 150 so he can't call 290. Regardless of the action in the blinds, V will get back 140 pre-flop.

Action: BJP 140, V 290 (150), H 150, SB 60. By my calcs Main pot 240, side pot 380. H needs 25% in main pot 4 way and 35% in the side pot 3 way.

In game I'm snap calling this. I think V is way wider here against a blind all in, he just happened to get a dream hand.

Very easy call. Roll with the variance and move on.
