AK UTG - River spot
Hero: Probably viewed as competent, on the tighter side. Sitting with over 1k.
Villian: 30s something. Seems okay, not great. But aware enough, sizing seems okay. Haven't seen him do anything too wild. Has about $300.
1/3
Hero raises $15 with AKo UTG.
Folds to Villain in HJ who calls.
Everyone else folds.
Flop ($30): QJ4r
Hero bets $20. Villain calls.
Turn ($68): 5o
Hero checks. Villain checks.
River ($68): A
Hero? Reason and plan would be appreciated in responses.
Just to kick it off..I don't see much value in check/call. So I think it's either between bet/? and check/fold.

Re: AK UTG - River spot
Pre and flop are fine. Checking turn is OK. It depends on the player for me, but I doubt he's folding Q. Might fold a J, though.
I bet $35 - $40 OTR with the plan to fold because it's so rare at this level to have someone raise the river w/o better than AK here.

Re: AK UTG - River spot
You both capped yourselves pretty hard on the turn, bet river for a smaller/thin value type sizing and fold to any raise because it's the nuts from a player like this.
It's also ok to ck-c flop, ck-decide turn sometimes, bet cbet is also fine.

Yeah I think b/f is best here. You can set the price and get value from V's 1 pair hands while also avoiding being bluffed out if you check.

Re: AK UTG - River spot
I would Cbet this flop with a gut shot.. I think the pre and flop are good, although, I am going to barrell the turn, probaby around $45-$55, to get him to fold any J.
Since it was CC on the turn and the A hits the river, I am going to lead out around $35-$45 on the river and get that pesky J to either call or fold. If he does raise, you may have to lay it down, but I do not see him having K10 in this spot...

Re: AK UTG - River spot
Your hand looks like what it is, so it will be tough to get value from a naked Q. That said the read is that V is not wild, so doesn't make sense to check to induce. As others have said, b/f a small amount to get value from KQ/AT type of hands.

Re: AK UTG - River spot
not check/folding after you just checked the turn. He could be betting his whole range there.
Bet and he will either think your FOS and call or he will fold. It's better than risking a check/check. Of course we're folding if he raises the river (the ace is well within your range).

Re: AK UTG - River spot
Definitely B/F river as others have said ... $40.
Much depends on the V range and image, e.g. station?
Pre and flop are standard imo, but I'd fire another barrel on a blank turn, say $35-40. U have fold equity vs. TT- and protecting vs. hands like KT/T9. This also balances our continuing range.

Re: AK UTG - River spot
Why would you c/f the river? If you are checking you are hoping to induce a bluff. The river is a b/f or a c/c. It's not a c/f.

Re: AK UTG - River spot
Losing to: AJ, KT. Occasionally AQ or some weirdly slow played stuff.
Beating: 9T. Something like KQ or QTs that played scared on the turn, or maybe hoped to pick up a bet by checking turn. KJ, JT. Occasionally AT.
It's really going to look a lot like you hit an ace.
I'm not sure this V is looking you up for a decent sized bet with any of his losing hands, other than AT, which isn't there much. So, this is a spot where I bet less than half pot.

Re: AK UTG - River spot
I’d DB again on the turn, something around $30 range. As you said H image is viewed on the tighter side so we can credibly rep a Qx or better. V can show up with T9, KT, Jx, 55-TT and Qx QJ etc as his entire range.
I’d bet turn here some and check some % of the time. On this neutral turn I’d elect to bet.
Ap, I don’t think river is a ever a x/f unless V shoves it make a pretty big bet. My default would be the b/f here around half pot. It’s less likely V has a Q (no turn bet) KT gets there, he’ll likely check back his Jx, and other smaller pairs.

Re: AK UTG - River spot
I check/call a bet of up to 40.
It's hard for us to represent KT from our UTG opening range and I don't want to risk being bluff raised.

Re: AK UTG - River spot
Yeah, I bet/folded (probably too big of a sizing, but my thinking at the time was that I’d rather be polarized and prevent any chance of villain bluff raising). It went $50/$130/fold.
The reason I posted this hand is that I’m actively trying to identify spots to check/fold where I’ve usually chosen bet/fold. Apparently this isn’t one of them!

Re: AK UTG - River spot
I probably bet half pot here. It's definitely a bet fold in my opinion.
