AK in a tricky runout. AK in a tricky runout.

I played a 1/1 game today. Very soft game, players are mostly call stations, with some poorly constructed bluffs here and there.

At this hand action folds down to me on HJ, I open to 4 with AKcc. Stack 185~.
Co and SB call. Stacks are about the same size as mine.

Pot 13.
Flop AT5 2 spades. I bet 7 and both players call.

Pot 34.
Turn 2 Spade.

Sb checks, I check and CO bets 8, we both call.

Pot 58.
River is a blank.

Sb checks to me, I bet 25. with such a small bet from the CO after I showed weakness on the turn I didn't put him on a strong hand here, it looked to me like he was taking a stab at the pot.
SB wasn't a factor to me, I don't believe he'd check 3 times with a strong hand.

SB is a very predictive abc player. CO I couldn't get a read, I think mostly ABC player with some moves here and there.

Anyway, after I bet 25 CO raises to 50 and the SB folds.
I assume this is an easy call here given the pot odds. What do you think of the hand?

The problem is not the river, which is just a nit-fold despite pot odds most of the time, but the fact that in each of your hand histories you are playing top pairs passively and floating/barreling air in a game you describe as filled with calling stations.

I don't really care that turn completed a flush. I'm bet/folding.

Your hand isn't good enough to bet on the turn but it's good enough to donk river after his turn bet gets called in two spots?

I understand why it would seem that way. I don't bother posting hands of "flop TPTK, bet for value 3 streets get called".
I make sure to post hands that I was unsure what to do in tricky spots, or how could I avoid tricky spots.

Lately I'm trying to focus on balancing my range at the table. So I'll balance some strong check-back holdings, or some river bluffs combined with value bets. So when I get the chance to mix it up, I take it, especially when I'm playing deepstack.

If you want to avoid a tricky spot, just bet/fold turn, I agree with browni3141.

Why do you care about balancing in a "very soft game with players who are calling stations"? Just value bet and fold to raises. If you know villain is a maniac and will bluff when checked to, go ahead and check top pair.

Balance against really good players, exploit bad players.

That's something to think about. I may be overthinking in these games.
