This is a call. You have 8 outs to the nuts, which is approx a 16% chance of hitting (by the "rule of 2 and 4") and while you are being asked to pay 16.67% of the pot, which makes it sound as though you are paying too much, you;d only need to make up less than 1% via Implied Odds when you hit. As it really stands, the rule of 2 and 4 is a minor under estimate and you have 18.3% equity, so you definitely are getting the price to call.
Your complaining is silly though. You will only hit less than one time in 5. Meanwhile in your other hand, your V had almost 40% equity, with his two shots at the flush and his overcard outs.
