Hi guys,

1/1€ game, very loose and limpy. Table mostly cosnists of losing casino regs.

hero: young and very good looking guy nearing his 30s.
Probably seen as a nit (at elast by the regulars), sat down 35 minutes ago after table change. Bought in for 150 at another table, now at 120.

villain: absolute maniac. sitting on 200, apparently bought in for 250 and is on rolelr coaster. Playerd every hand since i sat down and got it all in with bottom pair on K62 and sucked out for 70 BBs. Played every single hand preflop. Mostly raising. The hand before the following, he was just called after bluffing a river very big.

Hero: AJ on Btn (Stack 120)

Villain: UTG raises to 8, 3 callers.

Hero raises to 32.

Villain calls, 3 folds.

(Pot 84)
T82

Villain checks. Hero???

Either way. Not a bad flop for you, there are 18 cards that'll make it worth continuing with OTT (3 aces, 3 jacks, 4 to OESD, 8 other clubs). Depends on the player. Against a lot of players it's better to pick up some equity before you start betting; this might be one of them. You're more likely to bet if he ever folds OTF; less likely if he's prone to check-raising. One thing this sort of player does is, they auto-bet OTT if you check behind OTF. You have the option to call if you pick up a pair or raise if you pick up a draw.

I don't know that I would have 3bet AJo against this guy. See how your next bet is basically a shove? Off the top of my head I would say you have ~30% equity, so if you have any fold equity at all you could just shove right now. I don't find that very appealing personally.

I tend to have problems playing against these maniacs. I am not sure if it is because I get my self in too many spots vs them or not. Especially this:

makes it so hard at times. Because I am more likely to miss the turn and what do i do when
a) 9
b)3
c) Qx
hits and he bets out 2/3 pot?

You failed to plan your hand.

Make a decision pf if you want to 3-bet or not. If you want to 3-bet, raise to about 45. You will now have 75 behind on the turn, and pot will be 106 or so, and the decision as to what to do on that flop would now be trivial- you shove.

OR,

you realize that any 3-bet will put you into a fold or shove situation against this player on the flop and decide that you do not want to do that with AJo. Instead, you flat pf, and re-evaluate flop with the plan to raise any bet by maniac on an A or J flop.

Raising to 32 set you up for this mess.

I dont agree, because I had a plan, which was to get myself into a position to shove a flop, but I agree that

, even though 45 seems a little too big.

Also what I dont like my play in general, because if I play a "raise big pre to isolate and then shove", then I cant be scared of missed flops like those.

raise bigger pre flop. bet full pot. then you are set up for a flop shove with less than a psb.

as played, i probably just shove. arguments could be made for betting 1/2 - 2/3 pot but then if he calls or shoves are we really ever folding with pennies left behind? probably not versus this guy.

maximize any shreds of fold equity you have against this guy and just stick it in.

I agree, raise bigger pre and shove flop would have been better.

lol, nice brag about your looks OP

bad 3bet sizing pre, raise bigger or just fold

ap, I feel your flop shove is getting called here almost all the time on this board.. because "he put you on AK"

could go either way, shove or give up
