Hi guys,

I just wanted advice on a hand I was involved in yesterday. Full ring, live NLH, $2/4 and I am over well over 300BB+ deep.

Folded to me in the hijack with 22 and I make standard $15 raise, I get a call from both the SB and BB. I have both well covered, SB is 200BB deep and BB is short-stacked.

Flop comes down: 2,7,5 rainbow.

SB actually asks the dealer how many runners there were and then leads out 25 into a 45 pot. BB calls and I decide to flat.

Turn: 7c, so now there is a flush draw with the 2c, 7c but I fill up.

SB once again leads out into 2 players for 65 into 120 and BB folds and I decide again to flat.

River: 4d brick.

SB now leads out 130 into 250.

I decide to min raise for value to 260 and he jams all-in and I call.

My question is did I play this wrong here, should I flat the river knowing that he is leading out OOP on three streets [redacted] but my hand is too strong to fold? [Redacted] Should I have raised the flop or turn to get more information?

Thanks,
Tim.

This isn't going to end well.

This forum is probably better for this question.

Wrong forum but good question. I make the same mistake too when starting out

I wouldn't normally slowplay the flop in this situation. Villain is leading into two players which likely means he has something, so I'm not too worried about losing him. We're deep so we want to start building a pot now so we can get stacks in by the river!

On the turn, against a good player I would be a little bit worried about 75 since that's one of the few hands I would lead here in his spot. But a fish will often lead the flop with just top pair, and now he has trips and isn't folding so we should probably wake up now.

The river is awkward because of stack sizes. We can't really raise/fold, but shoving would be $130->$700 which is pretty huge considering we don't have the nuts. I might just flat and feel really sick for being a nit if showed me 7x, but also save lot's of $ when he shows me 75.

I guess it really depends how likely he his to slowplay 75 on the flop (ie, most fish) vs fastplay it.

When deep and flopping a set we need to get money in the pot. Flatting flop was a mistake. We dont have to kill the V with a huge raise, but do raise. 2.5x would have been called by top pair most likely unless V was very good player. (We were given nothing on V)

AP, when he jams you could stick yourself with a fork since you are 100% done.

And fold.

I raise every street. As played to river, you can value raise much higher than min.

You shouldn't play small pairs at all when stacks are that deep, because they can never make the nuts short of getting 4 of a kind. You may think that being beaten set over set is an extremely rare occurrence, but full house over full house beats are much more common. If you're playing 2's you'll be on the losing end every time it happens.

Where did you get 1200 dollars, anyway?

You'd have to pry a PP from my cold lifeless fingers in a single raised pot 300bb deep.

Folding for fear of set over set pre? C'mon
