My friend and I like to discuss the hands we play live. On this hand we
totally disagree on the turn action we should take. Perhaps you all can shed some light. Here is the hand.
Live NL 1/2 at Maryland Live
Hero has played tight aggressive, almost no limping.
Villain #1 is to Hero's left and is loose passive. Likes seeing flops but does not continue without a good hand. Lots of flop folding.
Villain #2 has shown down good hands. But for some reason I had a "this guy sucks" read on him. Maybe he was just lucky and I resented it. Anyway he seemed weak and passive but had a nice stack from some major pots.
Also keep in mind it's 1/2 - that affects the analysis.
Hand:
Two folds, Hero ($250) is UTG +2 with A
K
and raises to $10
Villain #1 (maybe $350) is left of hero and calls $10
folds to Villain #3 (~$500) on the button who calls $10.
Blinds fold
Flop ($33) K
3
5
Hero bets $25
Villain #1 calls
Villain #2 calls
Turn ($100) 4
Hero?
My friend is adamant that if I do not bet this turn it is a HUGE leak. However, I am more skeptical. I feel like the hands in thir range that I beat I am WAY ahead of (not many river cards are scary) and the hands that beat me I am way behind. If I'm behind I have outs but I want to hit them before I get any money in. He votes bet, I vote check. (I agree betting is obviously good. But what is best?) Please keep in mind stacks and pot commitment...The pot is $100 on the turn and I have $215 left.
Question #2: How would you play this hand if you just have AK no flush draw?
All comments and analysis very appreciated!
Cheers,
Brian
