NL 1/2
This is an outrageously wild game. UTG has been button and UTG straddling every rotation. He straddles for $15 UTG this hand. He's got 1000. UTG +1 calls the 15, around 100 or so stack. MP calls the 15, he's got 200. It folds to Hero on the button with AA.
Hero thinks about a 3! I have 210 or so. Hero decides best course is to shove as raising to 50 would get 3 callers (at least). Is this too spastic by Hero? In normal game conditions I wouldn't do this.

It depends on the particular game/players, and on what your image is.

Some wild games like this, when you shove you'll get a caller automatically. If it's that type of game, shove.

Other wild games, players shut down/fold to this bet preflop from certain players almost always.

Know your image and know your players.

If you're new or unsure, raise to ~75-80. If called shove allin on flop no matter what flop is, you'll be committed by SPR always.

I like $80-85, shove every flop imaginable.

as someone who has spaz 3-bet/4-bet shoved Aces many times in the past, I can say it's most definitely not the most +EV line in a vacuum. unless you got like some 10bb-18bb fish opening pre, it usually just results in folding and losing so much ev

+1

This is so table specific i think you can go ahead and be results oriented with this.
If you shoved and someone called light, then you made the right play. If the table laughed at you and beat each other into the muck, you were wrong.
Without being there, I agree with XtraScratch8

I don't even mind if the whole table calls. It's only 100bb.

I got the 1 caller. He called with J10 offsuit. Is that optimal for what I want with aces?

You want to get calls when you have AA/KK... if i had 3 callers everytime id be printing benjamin franklins

Well, i know i still have the equity advantage but my percent of winning drops with every extra caller. I follow the Doyle Brunson rule about aces: they're good for winning a small pot or losing a large one

I'd rather GII for $200 HU than go 4 to the flop for $50.

AA are good for winning small pots and big pots BTW.

To clarify a bit, going AI pf and on the flop with AA wins big pots. Having a B/B/B strategy and staring at a RAI on the river is not a good place to be with AA unimproved.

But you can't lose a large pot here! In this game (or at least in this hand) you're sitting on only 14 BB effective. If you have 14 BB with AA, your first and only consideration should be how to get the money in the pot as quickly as possible while still getting callers. If you succeed in that, whether you get 1 caller or 4 is of secondary importance - of course you'll lose more often with additional callers but your EV will still increase overall.

Ah, the effective 14 BB effective is something i haven't thought of. Very good point.
