reason I say this is because soul reads are overrated. We tend to only remember the times we were right and forget all the times we were wrong...
how true, how true. Soul reads are rare for me either way though. It would be in a situation where I know my opponent very well and his strategy/tendencies. Definitely not against any other guy at a casino.

I call and hate myself for it because I know it's -EV.

1-2 Sunday Morning at the Borgata table is full.

Hero ($150)- Only been at the table for about 45 minutes, played one or two hands where flopped a set and took down pot with a check raise on the flop. hasn't shown down. Unfortunately playing tight from being down 3 BI's over the weekend.

Villian ($100)- No reads, middle aged white guy hasn't played many hands.

Pre- 5 limps to Hero in BB who picks up AA and raises to $17

Folds around to V in SB who calls.

Flop (42) Q99

V checks

Hero bets 25

V calls

Turn (92) Q99J

V shoves for 52

Here is what really got me, as Hero is debating call thinking he has the best hand V looks over and says "I have the nuts" with a smirk on his face.

Will post results after.
He can have a ton of stuff here, QJ comes to mind which we beat, random jxss etc... there are also a lot of hands in his range that have us dead but he shoved for half pot so this is a snap call and reload if you lose, not really thread worthy OP (not trying to be condescending when I say that, just letting you know that this is a super standard call and if you lost the hand you shouldn't need to second guess yourself etc)

oh yeah and try to not go under the max buyin, you're costing yourself a ton of ev

and about his comment, it doesn't change anything for me...if anything it makes me want to call more, don't let people's talk manipulate you... this is a call, and that's all there is to it

Results: Hero tanks... I would normally snap call this but I feel because of the recent downswing I had went through that weekend I got a bad case of the MUBS.

Hero folds and V shows Ac5c, just a flush draw.
