Hi all,

1/2NL at Maryland Live. Two limpers ahead of me, I have black AA and $65 in CO. I raise to $12 - too small in retrospect - and I get 7 callers. Not what I wanted. Normally I would raise to $20-25 setting up a jam on the flop but I think I was too tired late in the session and made a mistake. Pot $84.

Flop comes KcKsJc. Checked to me, I check in case a king is slowplaying I don't want to get check-raised. Button checks.

Turn: 7c. Checked to me, I bet $10 (I don't think a K would check two steets), button raises to $45 - what should I do?

Thanks,
DT

Hi there, please don't post the results of the hand. It generally leads to worse results.

I've edited them out.

Your raising should have been bigger pre, but you already noted that. $20-25 is good IMO.

That flop is gross against 7 players, and the probability of someone having a King is so high, so I don't hate the check. Raising $10 into $80 pot on the turn is not good. What were you trying to accomplish with this bet?

As played, with the little you have behind and noting the size of the pot you should have either jammed turn or continued your line to check to river in hopes of peeling the nut flush.

Also, you should really be considering topping off your stack when you get low. In spots where you get big PP and have very little chips behind you are cheating yourself out of money.

I agree a larger bet would have been better on the turn. I thought my pair was good at this point, so I led out. Sizing was off though.

I think I would be checking it down looking for a cheap showdown. Someone has a K here enough times that you are probably way behind.

The pot is $84, why are you betting $10? No one is going to fold and you are probably behind to at least one person. I am not sure what the goal was here.

You could raise more pre but $10 is fine. Once more than 3 people call it is time to realize you have a 1p hand that probably isnt going to improve. Play accordingly.

Buy in full pre. Shove flop as played.

Don't sit at the table with $65.

I say bet $50 on flop or shove. $10 should never be bet there at all.

Trying to understand...So two limpers before your action, Hero is in CO, so there is still Button, SB, BB...but you had seven callers?!? Your position is off then.

Regardless definitely should have raised more. Especially with 3-4 limpers in front (wasn’t specified). I wouldn’t hate an all-in shove since you are short stacked. As played, I would have checked flop and turn. Turn...the flush concerns me more than K (would assume one of each).
