A9ss in tough situation A9ss in tough situation

Now I know generally playing this hand out of position is a bad idea. The reason I decided to play was because the villian was down 2k and was on super tilt. He was betting 75-100$ preflop about 80% of the time. So his opening range is extremely wide.

Hero: A9 UTG. 1300$ stack
Villian: ?? HJ 3000$ stack

Villian: raises to 80$
Button: calls 80
Hero: raises to 250
Villian: calls 170
Button: folds

Flop: 355r

Hero: bets 250
Villian: calls 250

Turn: 8r

Hero: checks
Villian: bets 300
Hero: folds

I guess the really question is should I have 3bet pre flop with a tilt player with a super wide range and the tendency to bet no matter what he has? I was hoping to take it down preflop with the 3bet but unfortunately he called.

What does everyone think?

I asked the guy what he had when I was leaving and he told me. I will tell you after we get some posts going.

What stakes are you playing?

I personally wouldn't try this, as I would feel the V on tilt is going to be steaming and more likely to call my 3-bet off here. But whatever, let's just assume it's worth a try.

When he calls that 3-bet, on that dry flop I am checking it.
I'm basically giving it up. Sure your ace could be ahead, but out-of-position its
just not worth calling down any of his bets to find out.

You wanted to take it down pre, your plan didn't work out, the flop gave you nothing believable to rep, I'd just let it go.

The whole HH makes no sense. The stack sizes are more of a 5/10 game. There's no mention of a straddle, but Hero can't stay in unless he straddled to call the villain's raise.

I'm going to lock it. OP, if you can write a coherent HH, post it in the MHFR forum. This forum is for up to 2/5 games.
