NL 1/2
Hero has 220. I was there about 40 minutes. Villain 1 is UTG with 400. He's a 55 yo WG who's tight but not a nit. Villain 2 is UTG+1. He's active VPIP 30 or so but he's not a degen. 40 yo BG with 150 at the start of this hand.
Hero has A5 in the cutoff.
Villain 1 raises to 10 which is light for him in terms of opens. Villain 2 calls. Hero calls. Button, SB, and BB all fold.
POT $33
Flop
3610
Villain 1 bets 15, Villain 2 calls, Hero calls
POT $78
Turn
7
Hero now picks up three outs on the inside straight.
Villain 1 checks. Villain 2 bets 60.
Hero????????
This is a large bet and I don't have a lot of equity on the turn. Do you call here with the nut flush+gutshot? I honestly don't know what's best practice.

I would've raised the flop. I guess you can just jam it in now.

It says I only have 27% equity against top pair. I thought that would be spewage.

Should I be thinking about what I call in terms of pot odds here?

Thanks for any insight.

Villain clearly likes his hand. You can shove the turn for around 200 to potentially get a fold but I’m not sure if he is folding here. Calling is probably not optimal but it’s a tough spot. How much does V2 have behind?

I shove for value. You gotta pre trap him if you know it's coming.

That's what I was thinking too. 75 in the pot, 75 left for villain so there's no way he's folding.

Yup he’s not folding. I would just lay it down and wait for a better spot, you are beat here 99% of the time.

This is perfect spot to use your position and most likely end this pre or take control of it going to the flop if one of the Vs decides to call the 3! OOP. A weaker than usual open as you stated, followed by an even weaker call. You are in position with a suited ace. I'm making it $40 here all day.

Then on the flop you have another opportunity to take control of this pot with the nut flush draw and an over and you just call. Why? You're playing too passive.

As played you're on the turn now kind of stuck in an akward spot because you passed on the two opportunities you had to show aggression. Playing to try and hit draws is tough. Hitting the draw should be your backup not your primary plan. Use the fold equity to your advantage. Put the pressure on your opponents. Make them have a hand to continue and put yourself in position where you're indifferent to them calling when you put max pressure on them on the flop.

As played just fold the turn.

Pre is pretty meh at these stacksizes. I 3bet this hand in this spot at a decent frequency, which is probably a leak.

Flop: yeah it's fine, raising doesn't rep many value hands, vilain is gonna put us on a draw often and we want to keep worse draws in. That said, raise/gii is more than ok also.

Turn: Easy call. Villain is pretty much committed, so when we hit we'll have the IO to get that remaining 65$ as well. As for direct odds we need 30% to break even on a call, we have 35% if our A is good also.

No, we have 27% equity against a set. Most tight players at 1/2 do not open 66 and 33s UTG and V2 would have certainly raised a set on this texture with you behind. So I think it’s reasonable to assume we’re only worried about 3 combos of sets between both players (10s).

We’re basically flipping vs KKs and there’s $60 dead money out there.

Easy flop shove imo. Especially with a neutral image (you didn’t mention anything on it), you will get a ton of folds from V1 AND 2.

Most people take the conservative route when unsure as to how to proceed in an effort to reduce variance but in reality they’re increasing it usually. There’s no guarantee you’ll get paid when you hit and if you don’t bink the turn and face a bet like you did here you’re in a spot.

Also, I don’t know you so I’m just making an assumption: but it seems as if it would be beneficial for you to learn your equity in different situations. You should not rely on checking with an equity calculator afterwards everytime as that doesn’t help you in game irl

Edit: OP, were you referring to our equity vs top pair on the turn? If so, my bad.

Still, we block A-10. It's much more likely V2 has K-10, in which case we have 34% equity. Considering the dead money and a few other factors, I still shove.

3 bet pre. As played call, don't raise flop. If you think villain will pay you off in a club river, call turn.

pre -ev unless you got fish behind
can comfortably raise flop to gii
I'd be surprised if v1 didn't bet too much and v2 didn't call too much
you're almost flipping vs gii ranges
good combo to balance sets, your better 2clubs have additional eq to call and have an additional blocker to their folds
ap call turn

3bet pre, raise flop, fold turn as played. He sized well and you aren't deep enough for required implied odds.
