I range c bet almost every board HU, and I would on this one. As played, I would just check back and look to get to showdown for free on every non T/9/8 river.

EDIT: To clarify, my range c betting rule applies for when we're IP

So you c-bet even when villain has a range advantage? Seems that could backfire against thinking opponents. Against avg players it's probably not all bad though.

In this spot I would usually fire a cbet about 1/3 pot as well. But I don't really mind checking back. It protects his check raange and can catch bluffs later.

I forgot to clarify that this is my rule IP.

Villains won't be able to profitably defend versus 1/3 sizing otf...they have to defend 75% of an already way too wide range.

There aren't too many thinking players at 2/5, so it's not a huge deal. I do it less versus the better opponent, though. Because the vast majority of 2/5 players are those who defend way too wide, there are virtually no boards which they have a range advantage on.

Bet $20 or check, either is fine. You can't really expect better to fold but you can get called by a lot of worse hands.

You have a 1 street of value hand with 3rd pair. You have 3 streets to get that value, it doesn't matter a whole lot when you get it. Flop is your best chance to get called by worse but also runs the biggest risk of running into a better hand, villain raising with a draw or bluffing later in the hand. Both your chances to get called by worse and your risk of too much action go down with each street.

I prefer flop cbet, and as played delayed cbet on turn.

My whole thing with wanting to get to showdown for free after checking the flop is that I think we can get value from A high and other overs with a flop downbet, and then it gets more difficult as the streets go on. QuadJ says this is a one street of value hand - do you think we're getting called by A high on turn/river after checking flop/flop + turn?
