0.25/0.50 home game, which plays much higher because straddles and double straddles are very common, with the occasional triple straddle. Everyone at the game knows each other and has extensive history. The game is generally very aggressive.

Hero - viewed as LAG. My triple barrels or big bets have sometimes been called down light, so players are aware that I'm capable of making moves. The table generally respects my game though, and I don't think they think I make moves just to make moves.

They may think I'm somewhat on tilt this session, as I've been down as many as 400 bbs after losing two massive hands when we GII on the turn and I got 2-outed and 4-outed, respectively.

Villain in this hand is also LAG. From his talk he knows intermediate/advanced hold 'em strategy, he widens his ranges considerably in position, and he understands ranges. He is one of the players who has called hero down light when I've emptied the clip (E.g., called down with 9x on 894Q7 runout)

Effective stacks in this hand are approx $150.

5-way, UTG straddles $1, Villain double straddles $2 in CO, Hero on his button triple straddles $4. All players call, Villain, calls, Hero checks his option with 4 7

Flop ($20): A J A

Checks through.

Turn ($20): 4

Checks around to Hero, who bets $13. Folds around to Villain who calls.

River ($46) Q

Villain leads out $25. Hero?

Any ace has to bet either the flop or turn, not go x/x. Same goes for a J - when it checks through you gotta think an aggressive player would bet a J for value. So when it goes x/x, x/c when a heart draw comes we're looking at a FD, a 4, or 23. He might have backdoored a Q but no other draws got there. Call getting about 3-1.

raise pre & force some1 to have 3aces by emptying the clip, theres a massive $3.75 juice in there and you got the button short handed. nit..
jk but really
i dont think he reps an ace so well since a trap line woulda given u more rope on the river with a check. it doesnt really look like youd have a hand thats strong enough to call here so id assume he's bluffing with spades or something. If you think he limps KQ or K10 in a straddled pot short handed it would make sense to lead the Q but if he's as solid as u think thats proba hand that comes in for a raise right?

getting nearly 3 to one and it seems like most hands that have u beat and wanna lead that river shoulda raised pre. Im calling unless he's got a tendency for limping strongish hands like AJ KQ K10

I do firmly believe he would likely raise any Broadway hand PF given all the dead money and his good position.

I only call if I'm really interested in what he's got here.

Else Hollywood and fold.

Villain called 13.

Even without him having an A our 4's are big dogs.

He could easily have pockets if none of the big flop cards hit him.

If the game is triple-straddle-loose surely there are better times coming to spend $25.

Well I guess this hand wasn't as interesting to others as I thought it was? Or was there something about my post that didn't elicit many replies? Any advice is welcome - I'm newer here and this was my first hand posted.

Results: I tank called, Villain said "you're good" and mucked.

I thought it was an interesting post - if only because I was right in my analysis haha. Don't worry, sometimes HH's go unnoticed if they haven't been commented on in a few days. I definitely burned a few brain cells deducing what was going on.
