Agreed, but against this villain I don't even think it gets there. Part of the reason is that I think villain checks back a lot of J's. He has to be at least a bit worried about hero having flushes and FHs with.

So I am thinking

A) Described villain is rarely bluffing the river after the turn action (unless he is really suicidal)

B) Villain has more value hands that beat us than those that don't

C) Of the value hands we beat I think a decent number of them check behind (i.e. J10, J9 et.)

A rec player with a flush isn't raising turn much, with the exception being a very small flush, he's also basically never raising a FH.

River bet is YUGE in real $. Rec players tend to value bet rivers smaller. If he had a small flush he'd probably check back for fear that we have a bigger flush

I'd expect V to show up with exactly JxBIG pretty much always when he has a value hand

The read that he wants to Dwan everyone also favors that he has nothing, or nothing with any real showdown value, like a middling pair

Momo... do they really matter that much?

Johnny, I was surprised:

Spoiler:
Hero tanks for a while... doing the whole counting out chips... still thinking. Reluctantly calls. Villain quickly flips over cards & announces "ten high." He had T8o. No spade.

Well... sort of, yes. We can use Fold Equity Calculators to see how often our bluffs need to work. The line he took definitely made me pause & I actually might have folded had I not seen him give up river in a huge pot with TPokK... maybe he was giving up live tells I was subconsciously picking up as well. It wasn't an easy call what so ever. I was actually hoping he had some PP in range that he wanted to bluff with.

Seems like wild spew.... villain basically has to hope you have a no pair big and missed. And he can accomplish folding out that hand with a bet half the size probably.

Nice call, sometimes those are live read things you have to roll with...
