V: Young white rec/reg, seen him around before but haven't played with him much. Was seen bet/bet/overbet shoving into a loose/stationy rec one or two orbits ago, but not sure if V was aware of rec's tendencies.

H: Young asian reg, just moved over about twenty mins ago. Barely played a hand so far. Bought in for max $700.

$700 eff stacks.

Straddle $10, V opens UTG to $35, I call in straddle with 66. V was seen opening similar sizing once or twice before in EP/MP.

Flop: Q74r.

I check, V bets $50 into $80, I call. V doesn't seem happy about this.

Turn: Some brick, 2?

I check, he bets $135 into $180, I call after a few moments.

River: 9.

I check, he ships somewhat quickly for $470 into $450. I tank and say I don't understand why he shipped. He repeats my question back to me.

Hero?

If you havn't played with him much, why are you calling him down after he raised pre from UTG?

Fold turn.

Snap fold river.

He has a lot of value combos in his range:

6 AA
6 KK
3 QQ
12 AQ

Just fold.

My mistake, should've included that I picked up a tell OTF that he was weak.

Do you think he shoves for pot with all those combos though? My hand looks like one pair, why would he make such a big bet on such a dry board? I have a pretty tight image, I would think he would go for value with like 2/3 pot?

but then he bet 135 into 180 on a duece turn. That doesn't look too weak.

Yes, but there's a pretty good chance that he is trying to 'level' you into making a hero call with Qx. $300 looks like a value bet, while stuffing the river looks like a bluff. Hence, he jams the river.

If he's weak OTF, the 2 shouldn't help him unless he has exactly 22 which he prob checks back OTF a decent % of the time. I also think his 35 pre is weighted towards broadways/pps/suited A's, if he had QQ+/AQ/KQ he might make it 40 given the straddle. This is just a population-read where I play that regs are unbalanced wrt preflop betsizing.

His betting is telling the story that he wants to play for stacks. If you think his flop tell is more reliable than this, go ahead and call down.

If V wasn't happy with your call OTF, why would he bet turn and shove river? Nothing about his line screams weakness unless he is a known lagtard barrel monkey...but you haven't played with him much to know that.

I wouldn't want to call off another 94 BB hoping to catch a bluff when I have few solid reads, if any.
