5/5 game, $400-$1500 buyin.

Villain was playing pretty solidly up to now, seemed a little on the loose side but playing aggressively and picking his spots well. I'm not sure what my image was at that point, but I usually try to play a bit looser in the beginning of my session and then tighten up, as this tends to help me get paid off during later hours of the session.

Preflop: folds around to V (~$2000) on the BU who raises to $15, SB calls, Hero (~$2000) calls from the BB with Jh8h.

Flop ($45): T97r, one heart.

Check, check, BU bets $60, fold, Hero?

I was surprised that he overbet, but I put him on a range of mostly value hands like overpairs and two pair+ that wanted to protect against straight draws and pair+straight draw type of hands. I don't think many people would overbet here as a semi-bluff or a pure bluff very often. Maaaybe he does this with like 88 as a semi-bluff, or T8 because he likes his hand and doesn't mind getting called/raised? I'm not sure. Well, I didn't think he would fold if I raised, so...

Hero raises to $150, BU calls.

Turn ($345): 9, completing the rainbow

Hero bets $300, BU calls fairly quickly.

River ($945): A

Hero checks, BU shoves for ~$1500 effective (he barely had me covered). Hero?

Would appreciate input on whether my flop and turn plays were okay, what you would do on the river and why, and how you would range him on the flop, turn and river.

Is this at Oceans?

I like leading the flop sometimes, but if we think V will c-bet, I like our c/r sizing. It is odd that he went that high.

I'd lead turn for a bit less, ~$250.

OTF, I think he has an overpair at worst.

OTT, I think he has an overpair or FH.

OTR, I think T9/97/77/99+ with JJ-KK getting discounted as those would be pretty sick bluffs.

Thing is, if all his JJ-KK combos are in play, we have 47% equity. However, we don't have to discount that many of those bluffs to drop bellow the 38% needed. Based on description, I think I'd find a fold.

Gross. I like the flop. I think the turn bet could have been smaller, and I would have made it smaller. More value-looking like $200 - $250. Seriously, what's he calling $300 with on a paired board?

I fold the river. I just can't see how he has less than a full house. If he's bluffing, more power to him.

Don't slow roll him

I'd raise flop more. He likes his hand and he's not likely folding.

I think I'd also bet less on the turn and am folding to a raise. Both of your ranges have a lot of boats now.

River is a pretty easy fold. He almost always has a boat.

Folding. Very hard to put him on anything you beat here given the flop overbet and turn call on a paired board.

Why did you bet $300 on the turn?

Play this from Vs perspective...what hands are you calling $300 with on the turn? Probably only boats.

Fwiw I'd probably b/f $125-150 on turn and $200-350 on river. Pretty tough for V to raise you without a boat when you do that. Can still get called by 68 and 9x, possibly even an overpair

Thanks everyone for your reply. Not sure if anyone is curious, but I folded after tanking for a couple of minutes. He didn't show, but before I was about to leave, I told him I had a straight and he told me that he had AA for the rivered top boat. Not sure if he was telling the truth... guess I'll never know.

Flop: size much bigger like $200
Turn: Size about half pot, so $180 as played. Fold to a raise.
River: I'd bet half pot then fold to a raise. Villain can hero call this with Tx and JJ-KK, thinking we missed our straight draw.
