$5/5 $300-$1500 buy in

Hero ($800). Just moved from a must move to another must move table. Usually don't play at night so I don't recognize anybody. Mid 20's, displaying no real image since hero sat down 25 minutes or so ago.

Villain (~$1600). Loud jewish dude, and his gut is busting through his button up. A couple people seem to know him at the table. Just won a big hand about 10 minutes ago with 99. He was in MP with around $600 and bet to $30. SB made it $125. BB called and he called. flop JT9. SB shoved. BB called, he called. SB had QQ, BB had AJ. Bricked out and now he has chips. About all I know and have seen from him.

OTTH

Folds to Hero who bets $20 with AJ
SB calls, Villian in BB calls.

Flop ($55)
973

SB checks, V checks, Hero bets $45
SB folds, V calls.

Turn ($145)
973 3
V checks, Hero bets $115 (?)
V tank calls.

River ($375)
9743 4
V checks, Hero?

Looking back, I should have checked the turn...just curious as to what I do on the river as played. Clear C/muck?

Check back river

That card doesn't add to your FE enough and he's probably not folding anything he called turn with

You also have sdv

Turn bet is ok. Lots of real equity combined with FE on offsuit K and maybe Q rivers.

Check back river. All the draws in the world missed. He's not folding a pair.

Turn barrell should be closer to pot imo. As played, check. No need to spew more here.

If I were planning on getting 7x and 9x to fold here from someone i'd assume is a gambly type, i'd go PSB on the turn. When playing against fish, I try to rep hands like a fish. At 115 he could 'put you on AK'. At 145, you are 'protecting your overpair' like most fish do and will fold 7x and 9x a good portion of the time.

A case can also be made for checking the turn and firing big on half the deck... diamonds, jacks, aces for value on the river and hearts for bluffs (because that's how fish play flush draws.)

As played, i'd have to physically see the guy to determine if I think he's folding 7x here. He's def not folding 9x. With nothing out of the ordinary, i'm just check/hoping he had a flush draw.

I don't mind the double barrel but he calls us on river with 100% of all of his value hands.

Its been my experience when there is a flush draw on the board, villains are never folding value hands because they will put us on the flush draw even if our line doesn't rep a FD at all...

check back river and hope he was on a busted draw, our hand does have SDV...

I like the turn bet. It should get folds from lots of hands that have 20-25% equity, and also creates a bigger pot for you to win the times he calls and you hit on the river. If you think he'll also fold something like 88, 7x, or 44-66, it goes from marginal bet to a clear bet.

If you had JT I'd like a river bet too... But as others have said, with the ace in your hand you do have a fair amount of showdown value against his range, so checking is probably the way to go.
