Playing 3 handed 5/10 at 3am.
V is known by everyone in the casino as probably the best player there. He plays strictly 5/10 and tournaments and is not afraid to run big bluffs for 2x pot OTR. A couple hands ago when we were 4 handed he called a 3bet pre OTB and bluff 3 bet shoved OTR on 78579. The guy tank called with KK V showed J8dd.
OTTH
Hero (700) is SB with AJss raises to 80
V (3000) calls on his button straddle
F: 9d Jd 4c
Hero bets 75
V calls
T: 9h
Check, check
R: 6c
Hero checks, V shoves for ~550 effective into 310
Hero? I'm obviously thinking all the draws missed and he might've taken my turn check as a sign of weakness and I'm also towards the top of my range here. V is obviously capable of bluffing like this as he does it all the time when j see him play and people talk about his play. The hands that beat me that I think he would play this way are 66, 9xs and that's it. Do you guys think he has enough bluffs here for me to make this call? Thx

I don't play this high, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
He's definitely bluffing here a lot, and you're basically never going to show up with any nutted hands, but to me it feels like V is super nutted and when you checked turn he may have thought the most profitable play would be to induce a hero call on the river.

Your image matters a lot here too. If he really is the best player in the room, then he knows who the players are that might make bad calls. Would you say you're image is stickier than most or weaker than most? If you have a sticky image I like a fold.

I haven't played very much with V maybe 15hrs total. My image is TAG and a little nitty when I play higher as when I play 5/10 I am taking shots and I'm pretty sure he's aware of all of this.

Any info on what street he likes he make his moves? If he raises flop a normal amount then I'd expect him to raise 44 and J9 on the flop since he'll have so many bluffs to balance it out. He is going to have a ton of 9s here though so it's really tough. At least 12 combos maybe even 16-20. So I think I still lean toward a fold even though our image is going to make V more comfortable making moves on us than other Vs at the table.

Haven't played a ton with him like I mentioned earlier but from what I've seen he likes putting people to the test with huge river raises/bets. I thought he did have a lot of 9x here a lot too probs A9-89. How many bluffs do you think he has here compared to value?

Why was your flop bet so small?

More flop and snap river as played.

You shouldn't be playing 5/10 short handed if you dont know this is a snap call. There's no way you folded so I guess he put a beat on you with what? 66?

No I didn't fold, I gave it a little thought and called. V showed K9o. I might've bet $105 OTF I can't remember. As I said before I'm taking shots at 5/10 And I just wanted someone to review my play.

The only positive thing to take away here is that you limited your disadvantage by playing at 35BB effective against a crusher.

Why are you playing 3 handed against the best player in the room as a shot is the more pertinent question

Bet river obv

Villian calling a 4x raise off 35 bigs seems pretty bad

This.

Not the best spot you could have put yourself in, as far as game selection and stakes...by far.
