Villain is definitely a good player and my only real competition at the table. I came over from the must move with about 4K in my stack and have worked it up to about 5K and basically walking over the table right now with raise and c-bets.

Villain is the only person at the table 3betting and we are expecting him to play back at us and play quite well doing so.

For example, I 3 bet a 25 raise to 75 with KQo at CO, villain 3bet from the small blind to 180, original raiser folds, we call.

Flop AJ4

check, check

turn 6 v bets 225 hero folds

Eff stacks 4.8K

Hero opens 55

7 handed, UTG+1 to 35,

folds to villain 3b to 110 on the button
folds to hero calls, calls

Q53

Hero checks, v bets 150 hero calls

2

hero checks, v checks

T

hero bets 265, v raises to 925

Snap call? You lose to 1010 unless he's weird and checks turn with QQ. I guess if he had Qs it might not be terrible to check. A4 keeps barreling on turn too.

Your line looks like busted spades. No point in raising in my opinion.

Call and find out. Not folding. Maybe QT maybe TT maybe 44 maybe some dumb stuff. Strange spot for a bluff though after turn check. Equally strange spot for value greater than yours for the same reason. If he shows you better than 55 that ISNT TT then you just would have to consider it a favor to your flop ckc range that he let you see a river... and this time, you just happened to have a hand that pays that line off, the rest of the time you fold OR the river would have gotten you there for only that flop cost.

I will say this sizing really is repping TT exactly and the line is so bizarre and TT does this always that it prob is TT a lot more than you'd like, but again, not folding.

I can't fold here.

I might click it back based on your history and read. Good post by AP as usual.

Silly question: if he's the only other good player at the table, why are you mixing it up with him? Why not stay out of his way and work through the school of fish, as you've been doing?

I know that would be basically yielding the battlefield to him, and it may not be good for the ego, but I personally am in the game to win money. Why play big pots against the only opponent who can play them well? Concentrate on the poorer players.

I agree with this logic. folding pf would be absolutely fine if i were a professional player. but as of now i'm only a weekend donk and this is also the only player here willing to risk any real money, so i'm sacrificing equity for variance. I wasn't going to walk away with a super stack playing the nits. but good point in general

This. Also in the first hand why are you calling a cold 4-bet with KQo? Suitedness gives your hand much more playability and keeps you speculative combos down. In the first hand I might call the turn if you have a spade in your hand and wanted to mix it up…

TT is the only hand that makes any sense that we lose to. QT may also play this way AQ may even at some frequency.

Definitely a call no point raising imo

I think you don't beat pretty much TT.

Its a snap call but I think he has TT 30-50% of the time here.

not sure why i didn't think of TT but yeah he had it and i think i butchered this hand in a lot of spots, i flopped a set in a 3 bet pot and only got 150 in by the river and paid off
