$1000 eff. My image young TAG grinder. V is a 26ish Asian foreign TAG with occasional outbursts of aggression. Opens wide in LP.

Folds to V, he opens to $30. I'm on OTB with AJo. I haven't 3-bet in similar spots in the past but I started thinking why not? He's wide, I'm ahead of his range, my image is great, I have position... and blinds are passive.

What do you guys think?

You answered most of your question here. Only consideration is how will he react to a 3b, will he 4b you light, etc etc etc

so you are saying that you are merging your 3 betting range here? This is an interesting and advanced concept that I am quite sure is new. Let me ponder this one and get back to you. I am curious to hear some cutting edge thoughts

We need more information here Olaff regarding this V. Have you seen him 4b! light(or at all) throughout the session? With your image and the fact that AJo pretty much crushes a late position aggressive opening range I pretty much would 3b! here most of the time. I can see arguments for calling if you want to keep dominated hands in his range that will fold to a 3b! and such.

What is his opening range? What is his folding range to your 3 bet? What is his 4 bet range?

Answer these questions and you can calculate the optimal EV line. If you don't know these answers, then folding is the best solution.

I'll note that the only 26ish Asian TAG I've heard of or seen is SABR42.

3betting is standard in that spot. But only if you can play very good poker post flop and are willing to possibly double and tripple barrel in low equity spots, especially against a guy with "occasional outbursts of aggression". If you are 3betting hoping to hit the flop to continue such as some of your other hands posted, fold pre.

Yeah, just wanted to confirm. 9 out of 10 Vs (even good Vs) won't 4b light. Mostly if the V wants to "play back" they will do so by flatting and trying to hit the flop which is dumb. So light 4b is not really a concern. The only issue to be pondered is how much aggression to pile on postflop if he flats.

Well it is not TV but it is $5/10 where V's are that much more aggressive post-flop and pre-flop so I wouldn't completely rule that out. If V flats construct his range and c-bet 75% of boards. If he calls your flop c-bet, further analyze and modify his range that you have assigned. Then, depending on the turn card deduce if V is likely to fold to a turn barrel given the range you calculated on the flop. I think it would be so much more beneficial if you actually posted a real, concrete example instead of being so broad.
