5/10, $1500 eff

V is young white guy TAG. No showdowns that I've seen up until this hand.

UTG open to 40
UTG+1 calls (both UTG, UTG+1 are very loose/splashy)
Hero in CO with A9 calls
V in BB completes

Flop (165): 743
Checks around to Hero, who bets 80
V in BB check-raises to 320
Only Hero calls

Turn (805): 3
V bets 550 with 600 behind
Hero folds

The call preflop is kind of weak. Seems like a good squeeze spot especially if you know UTG & UTG+1 are loose.

As played, it’s fine. You are not getting the right odds to call on turn.

Fold pre... also not sold on a flop bet, we aren't getting folds against pocket pairs and it really sucks to get c/r. I'd like to hear other thoughts on the flop bet but I think I prefer checking. This hand shows how easy it is to get into a dicey spot by betting.

+1 to 3bet pre. Calling is meh.

Closing the action I like a flop x back.

Would normally squeeze pre with this hand, but both UTG and UTG1 were just not folding to 3bets, and they were both relatively shallow (700 and 800). UTG stacked off 100bb with K9s. UTG1 also has a tendency of flatting EP opens with QQ+ and backraise jamming after a squeeze. Also, if I make it 160 and they both call I'm going to the flop with an SPR of like 1.1 with a marginal strength hand.

OTF, if I'm checking back the NFD+2overs, what bluffs do I ever have when I bet here? Am I only semi-bluffing with hands like 54, 64? Think I have to bet all NFDs and some/all K-high FDs + overs to balance my value bets with sets/2p/65s. Betting NFDs OTF also allows me to stack someone when I overflush a worse draw.

Thinking of my overall range here facing the raise, I think I have to bet/3bet GII with 65s, 66, 44, combo draws, bet/call 33, all 2p, NFDs, maybe bet/fold stuff like KQ, KJ?, naked top pairs. And check back everything else, including Q-high FDs or worse. Thoughts?

I can’t speak for others, but I’m in complete agreement on your flop arguments. After PFR checks, this is a slam dunk bet for me.

This is a hand I want to play a big pot with. And to the poster who said that I’m not getting pocket pairs to fold, I don’t really mind getting called here. I have position. Tons of over cards that could come that I could continue barreling on if called. Just a great situation all around.
