Playing in an action filled .5/1 home game when this interesting hand comes upon me. I am in the BB with $180 behind, villain in the sb has me covered. Villain is a good thinking player, laggy, capable of making big bluffs.

It's checked to me in the big blind and I pop it up to $6 with KQ

Villain thinks for a little and calls.

Flop comes 8 4 10 (Pot $12)

It's checked to me and I bet out $12, villain thinks a little and calls.

Turn 9 (Pot $36)

Checked to me I bet $25, villain calls

River 8 (Pot $86)

Checked to me, I bet $50, villain tanks, re-raises me all in for $80.

I think for a while, thinking I'm beat but I called $80 for $260.

Please rip me a new one. Thank you.

I really hate your river bet, no worse hand is going to call you on that board. I would pretty much check/evaluate the river, give him a chance to bluff on this board. As played I think your beat here most of the time and I would fold. I've rarely seen V's bluff raise the river with stone cold air, and even though he is LAG it is still a very rare play. My guess is that V has a hand like ATx or 89 in this spot.

I hate my river bet too. I was drunk and didn't fully think it through. Obviously since I have KQ I can only be called by an A or J of clubs or sf/full house, Lesson learned.

yeah hand looks good until the river. Though I'd bet a bit more on the turn.

River is a really easy check back, and a fold once he shoves.
