[3/5 spread] River value bet size not good here? [3/5 spread] River value bet size not good here?

No particular read on villain (30 something Asian) since he's only sat down less than 30 minutes. He didn't do anything out of line or played any hand to show down so far.

3/5 spread, 500 max. Utg Straddle is on for $10 this hand.
Villain mp open $35 (~1000 effective), hero OTB call Ac7c, one of the blinds called.

Flop ($113): 7sJs4x
Villain bet $45, hero called. Blind fold.
Turn ($203): Ah
Villain bet $130, hero called.
River ($463): 8d
Villain checked, hero bet $165, villain raised to $500 total.

Few questions:
1. Preflop I might raised, maybe close to 50% of the time. Is that too often? Just decided to flat this time.
2. Anyone raise the turn, how much? I thought about raising in case he had big Ace, but didn't want to fold out anything worse And didn't really get a feeling that he was on a draw.
3. River I thought I could get value from big Ace. So I made it on the small side, but maybe big Ace would call a bit more, like $200?
4. Is the river sizing here too small that it induced c/r? What do we do now?

Similar situation came up twice recently for me that's making me question my river bet sizing. Don't remember previous hand exactly but I had ATo on AT484r board in position. I had 3-bet his pf open. Villain (different guy from above hand) checked called both flop and turn. River I made it about 30% pot and got raised $400. So now I wonder if ~30% pot value bet is signaling weakness?

Need to edit the original hand. There was no straight possibility on the river. So the low card on the flop might’ve been a 2 or 3.

The board you give also allows a (highly unlikely) T9 straight. Assuming it's actually something like AQ872 and no straight is possible.

1. Preflop raise is a bluff, you can throw one in occasionally. But you should be folding more often then raising.
2. The situation is good for calling down against an unknown. With position you can pick up the betting when he stops.
3. Normally somewhat bigger but the occasional suck bet is fine.
4. The small sizing isn't as likely to induce a raise when you didn't have the lead on the betting. When you raise preflop, bet flop and then bet turn/river small it looks like a blocking bet or you gave up. When you where not the primary bettor and start betting river it looks more like a suck bet.

As played, call but it isn't happy. Villain's raise is small and he likely expects a call but your two pair is just good enough to call anyways. Villain might have a worse two pair or even a big AX and think they have the best hand. If there was a possible straight I might find a tight fold.

River would be a much easier situation with a better read on villain. This is the sort of situation that can be anything from an easy fold to easy call depending on villain. With no read it's guess work and pot odds.
