Utg limps utg+2 limps folds to me OTB. I raise to 25$ with AK spades. Old man that I perceive as somewhat tight from the limited hands I've seen from him three bets to 85 and gives a shrug which usually means strength. Consider folding or raising but both seem bad so I decide to let my postflop prowess have a chance and smooth call.

Flop comes 38Kdd. He checks somewhat quickly. WAWB, I think briefly and check softly yet confidently. Turn comes 9d. He checks again not super fast but not thinking about it too long either. I take 50 and use it to extend a 100$ red chip stack for a total of 150$. It's tall so I slide it out very slowly almost painfully slow so it doesn't fall over it took forever especially because I'm in the 2 seat and the Table center is far. I make it about 2 inches shy of the arbitrary ring and he says is that a bet? I say what? You're asking if that's a bet? The dealer says for me it doesn't matter where the ring is. That's a bet. He says ok then all in. I grab my head and go "aghhhh that's a bet? You have me killed here like always." Effective stacks were 500 to start the hand. He never checked back at his cards so I can't really put all of the qqd or jjd or AAd combos in his range. I put him on AA, KK, or AK. Not too many flushes if any in his range due to his perceived tight three betting range. I'm thinking for maybe a minute and he calls a clock on me.

Whatever. I'm in the middle of a long breakeven stretch but somehow I'm not too worried about the etiquette of the short clock, but I immediately think he is trying to get me to call. I ask him if I fold will he show. He kind of does a quarter shrug not even a whole shrug. I say I'm probably going to fold unless you help me out here. You have to give me a reason to call. He doesn't say anything. I think omg I'm losing here always due to all these strength tells and also his 3 betting range but I'm going to call him because I think there's a chance we're chopping with AK and maybe he just has a FD freeroll on me lol. also I hate him a little right now because of the clock lol. I guess the clock did get to me. First time I've ever had a clock called on me. But yea I have to know it's worth the 260ish to confirm what all this stuff means. Under ten seconds left and I toss a chip in and it rolls all the way to another player's stack who quickly grabs it and throws it to the dealer. Someone not involved in the hand says "that's a call?"

Is there a question here or are you just telling us a story?

General feedback would be nice. Do you agree with reads and ranges? Predictions as to what villain had might be fun. Was the story ok?

Did you get 3! from the blinds or did he l/r?

How old is the guy?

There is nothing wrong with folding pre if some 85 y/o guy limp raises you from UTG.

If he's 60, and he 3! you from the BB, and you don't have any real reads because your new to the table, then I would 4!/GII.

sounds like QQ with a diamond to me but wtf do i know? i probably just fold this preflop to a 3bet from 70 year old guy from the blinds so i don't get into this spot often.

I don't like calling the 3! pre. I would either fold pre or 4!/GII.

The fact that he shrugged when he raised makes me want to make a highly exploitative fold. Usually people who have QQ/JJ don't look like they have a nutted hand, cuz they don't.
