.25/.50 home game, preflop 3 handed with KQs

Last night, I played at a .25/.50 home game that runs 4-5 times a week that I play in when I'm home in Atlanta. Most people that play at this game are really bad, there are really only a couple competent players at this game. Most players are either drunk, high, have no idea what they're doing with poker, or all 3. So as you can imagine, this game is a real easy one to beat.

Hero is definitely the biggest winner at this game on average. If I play 10 sessions here at a time, I profit during at least 8 of them. Plays mostly TAG, but also tries to exploit the donk players at this game. Definitely respected by most players at this game, but I definitely make moves from time to time.

Villain 1 in this hand is one of the few competent players at this game and is capable of thinking beyond level 1 and sometimes 2, although I don't think he's all that good at it. He's pretty loose, loves to stab at pots, and likes to apply pressure. We've played poker with each other for at least the past 6 years, so there's definitely history. He's also one of the few that knows I'm capable of making moves.

At this point of the night, we are 10 minutes in to 3 handed play with the game winding down in about 20 more minutes.

Villain ($450) straddles on the button for $6.

Hero ($200) looks down at KQ and raises to $16.

Big Blind ($155) folds. Button now reraises to $46.

Hero:?????

I feel like I should have the best hand here a lot of the time, as he's capable of making this move with a very wide range. Didn't know what line to take in this spot. A friend of mine who is a 2p2er told me that he thought flatting here was kind of bad and that I should be getting it in if I think I'm good, but doesn't that fold out all bluffs and is a spot where we only get called by better? Especially if I know he's capable of continuing to bluff post flop?

Thoughts?

$6 straddle on .25/.50 blinds? hah.

I'm folding this. Don't feel like playing a huge pot out of position.

This is largely dependent on table dynamics in this type of game which are probably difficult to portray here.

I'd fold. If he call's he showing up with 1010+ AQs+ AQo+ and you don't do well against his range. 1000bb's in a .25/.50 home game sounds pretty nice. Wait for a better spot

Right, I completely agree with you that shoving here is bad in the long run. I've pretty much thrown that option out.

My real concern is about folding. If my friend is a pretty big LAG, isn't folding here maybe too nitty? I also forgot to mention that he straddled larger amounts on the button than we did, and he would 3bet his straddle a good amount of the time, probably close to 30-40%.

Yeah, the straddle sizes were pretty large on occasion. Lol. This was by far the largest one though.

I'll try to explain the dynamics a little better. The villain is pretty loose aggro, but this increases when we're short handed and he's deep. He defends his straddles and blinds a lot of the time. If he thinks there's a chance someone is attempting to steal his straddle, he'll either flat or 3bet. This is his standard play short handed and he was using his usual strategy last night when we were short handed and then 3 handed as well. It does suck being OOP, and KQs isn't the nuts, but I don't want to get run over either.

I just don't like any of our options here.

If we call, the pot has $92 in it, we have $154 left. What is our plan of attack if the flop comes 28T rainbow?

I think Folding > Shoving > Calling.

If villain is as loose as you say, and his range is really wide here, I think we can profitably shove, expecting him to fold a lot, and still having some equity when he calls.
